Volunteers in festive season


Recently, many people have flocked to Thu Dau Mot City to attend the January full-moon festival of Ba Pagoda. To join hands to ensure a peaceful festive season, young volunteers of the city have helped visitors.

Being not afraid of difficulties

From the 12th to the 15th lunar day, hundreds of young persons from 14 ward Youth Unions in TDM City were on duty 24/24 at 7 points of free mobile patching on inner city roads. During peak days, these young persons still patched vehicle tires at 2-3 am for visitors. At Yersin road’s guarding position undertook by Hiep Thanh ward and Chanh My ward Union branch received night patching for visitors. Hiep Thanh ward Union branch’s Secretary Nguyen Minh Tam said: “Because of the hot weather in the daytime, lot of people visited the pagoda at night, but also worried about vehicles puncture. Thus they were so happy as meeting us”.

According to Mr. Tam, nails absorbing squad worked permanently. In just three days, his squad absorbed more than 1kg of nails and scrap; replaced 14 tires, patched 30 tires. Besides, Hiep Thanh ward Union branch mobilized 5,000 mineral water bottles, 600 ginseng water liters, 400 bread loaves, 2,500 cool napkins to deliver free to visitors. At Phu Loi ward, young volunteers guided 124 visitors, patched 25 vehicles, replaced 5 tires, pumped 36 vehicles, delivered 384 mineral water bottles. Young volunteers of Phu Cuong ward guided 600 people, delivered 250 mineral water barrels, 10,000 cool napkins…

Developing a beautiful image 

Visitor Nguyen Kim Hoa from Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City said: “Concerns of visitors are usually overpriced services and food. Some destinations even charge for guiding. However, coming to Binh Duong province, there were no things like that, we received free patching, pumping, guiding, and even free water bottles, cool napkins in the hot weather. We will always remember these actions and an image of civilized, modern, friendly Binh Duong province”.

On the other hand, many units devised new practical action plans. Namely, Phu Cuong ward had free mortorbike taxis serving many visitors getting lost, especially elderly persons. Ms. Duong Anh Hong coming from District 1, Ho Chi Minh City said: “I lost my family and do not know about roads in Binh Duong. Fortunately, young volunteers guided and carried me to find my family. I appreciated this noble deed of the young. Hopefully, this model will be expanded further so that more and more visitors could get help in following years…

Especially, this year, visitors were delivered flyers, brochures of Ba Pagoda festival, provincial famous landscapes, map of the city center area so that visitors could easily visit nearby temples… Young volunteers also introduced delicious, safe and clean restaurants to visitors. The Ba Pagoda festival ended, but impressions of enthusiast, aggressive youth as well as friendly and hospitable Binh Duong stayed in visitors’ hearts.
