Warm Tet, spring of love

Under the nation's tradition of "mutual love, mutual love", the province organizes many activities to take care of disadvantaged people when Tet comes. Tet gifts filled with love have continued bringing the warmth of spring to many cases in need of help in the province.

All AO victims given gifts

For all Agent Orange (AO) victims to have gifts during the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2023, provincial Association of Victims of AO /dioxin has actively coordinated with organizations, donors to prepare money and Tet gifts to support these victims in the province. The association has also extracted its fund to prepare gifts for the victims more thoughtfully. Truong Binh Long, Chairman of provincial Association of Victims of AO/dioxin said that the whole province currently has 1,046 victims of AO/dioxin. After nearly a month of actively implementing the task, 100% of the victims of AO/dioxin in the province have received Tet gifts. Each gift includes VND 1 million and a gift worth VND350,000- VND 500,000. The association has also cared about poor families whose children are suspected of having disabilities, due to toxic chemical sequelae, but have not been medically assessed.

Orphan and disabled children receive gifts from provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor People

Victims of AO/dioxin are the subjects who always receive attention and care from all- level authorities and sectors. During the Tet holiday this year, there are 200 people with special difficult circumstances supported by the province with the level of VND 1.5 million each. According to Mr. Long, the total amount of money and Tet gifts to support the victims of AO/dioxin on the Tet holiday this year is more than VND 2.2 billion and it is guaranteed that 100% of the victims will have gifts. For extremely difficult cases, they will be more support.

“We coordinated with the sector of war invalids and social sectors in localities, district-level Association of Victims of AO/dioxin to donate Tet gifts to the victims ahead of December 20. Provincial Association of Victims of AO/dioxin and its branches in districts also visited especially difficult cases. Although being low in material value, these gifts were very warm to disadvantaged families and poor victims. The victims were very happy when receiving Tet gifts. This is because they are always encouraged and supported by all-level authorities, organizations, donors and associations in hardship. This Tet, all the victims of AO/dioxin in the province get gifts. And every family will celebrate Tet in a warm and joyful manner", said Mr. Long.

Taking care of beneficiaries of welfare policies

In order to early bring Tet gifts to beneficiaries of welfare policies, in the past few days, besides organizing delegations to visit and give gifts at social support facilities, provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients also organized a number of meaningful Tet gift programs. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Chairwoman of provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients said that since early December 2022, the association has mobilized resources to give gifts for disadvantaged people on the occasion of the Tet festival 2023, helping them enjoy a warm Tet full of love.

Meanwhile, Vu Kieu Nu, Chairwoman of provincial Association of Women Entrepreneurs shared that the subjects being managed by provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients are very pitiful and in need of support. “Every Tet, we save up to help disadvantaged children. Although not being much, each gift sent to the children is a spiritual gift to encourage them in life, helping them have more conditions to welcome a happier and more joyful spring", said Mrs. Nu.

Up to now, provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients has received over VND 1 billion in cash and over VND 200 million in gifts. Accordingly, the association cooperated with donors to give gifts and wheelchairs for disadvantaged people in 5 districts and towns. Especially, with the support of provincial Association of Women Entrepreneurs, businesses and donors, provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients has just organized a program giving Tet gifts for 400 disabled people, orphans and poor patients in the province. Each gift includes VND 1 million in cash and a gift worth VND 450,000; donated 10 wheelchairs worth VND5million each to disabled people and gave gifts for 50 victims of AO/dioxin. Belonging to a poor household in Hung Dinh ward’s Hung Loc quarter in Thuan An city, Huynh Thi Kim Loc, the mother of Do Huynh Ngoc Nu aged at 5 who received gifts in this round said that she and her husband are workers with 3 young children and is living in a boarding house, so life is very difficult. She expressed: “I am very happy when my child is supported with Tet gifts from Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients. Having this support gift will help my family celebrate the traditional Tet holiday more warmly.”

Despite difficult economic conditions, all-level authorities, Fatherland Front Committees and mass organizations have always paid attention to taking care of the lives of disadvantaged people, especially during the Tet festival 2023. These meaningful activities not only show the noble gesture and precious solidarity tradition of the nation, but also bring a warm spring to many people in need and spread love in the community.

During the Tet festival 2023, the province has mobilized resources to well implement regimes and policies for revolutionary contributors, the poor and support disadvantaged groups and workers. The province has spent VND 270 billion on supporting people with difficult circumstances. Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations have also organized many programs to take care of the poor, including workers through programs, namely “zero-dong fair, “Tet of mercy”, “Let's make Tet together”...
