words can depict the joy of poor people when being presented “the trade union
houses” (Mai am cong doan). This joy has come from the efforts by provincial
Trade Unions at all levels in developing the “the trade union houses” fund.

Joy from the “trade union houses”
Nguyen Thi Cam Van, a poor resident in An Tay commune’s Dong Soi hamlet in Ben Cat town said that thanks to VND15mln from the “trade union houses” fund and VND11mln from the Trade Union of her company plus other support from relatives and friends, she built a fourth-degree house, helping her family soon secure a stable life.
Also thanks to the support of Trade Union organization, Doan Quoc Bao, a guard of Phu An pre-school in Ben Cat town now owns a spacious house. He expressed his deep gratitude to Ben Cat town’s Labor Union and Trade Union of the education sector while pledging to make more efforts to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.
Giving strength to laborers in need of housing
This is also the target set out by provincial Labor Union and Ben Cat town’s Trade Unions at all levels. To achieve this target, the town’s Trade Unions at all levels have regularly propagandized and mobilized organizations, units, enterprises and Youth Union members to actively raise money to the “trade union houses” fund. They have also learnt and caught the aspirations of poor households in need of housing for timely support.
In 2013 alone, the town’s Trade Unions at all levels built 67 houses worth VND3.7bln for poor laborers; helped others upgrade their houses with a total expense of VND1.76bln and supported more than VND4bln for needy cases…
Along with extracting the “trade union houses” fund to support the construction and repair of houses for poor laborers, provincial Labor Union has instructed the local Trade Unions at all levels to mobilize State agencies, units, enterprises and donors to give financial support for them to build and upgrade their houses. Dau Tieng Rubber One-Member Co.Ltd., Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Co…are typical examples for this.
Huynh Van Luong, Head of the Department of Legal Documents under provincial Labor Union said that the implementation of the “trade union houses” fund over the past years reached considerable results, contributing to effectively realizing the local task on social welfare. But, this implementation also faced difficulties for change.
“In fact, there are many laborers with difficult circumstances reported in the province. They are not able to build and upgrade their houses. Hence, provincial Labor Union will suggest the local authorities at all levels to map out plans to further mobilize trade unionists and laborers to make contributions to the “trade union houses” fund…”, according to Mr.Luong.
