During the historic days of April, numerous meaningful programs and activities took place across Thu Dau Mot city. Among them, the program of "Sentimental attachment of Thu land" is one of the programs reviewing revolutionary traditions and showing the gratitude of the city’s Party Committee and government for the contributions of previous generations and people from all strata who have contributed to creating a prosperous civilized, rich, beautiful and affectionate land.
Sentimental attachment of Thu land
As part of the activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Thu Dau Mot province and the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), on April 27, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Dau Mot city organized the program of "Sentimental attachment of Thu land". The event aimed at honoring revolutionary traditions, inspire solidarity, patriotism and national pride among the people. It was also an occasion for the city's Party Committee, government and people to express gratitude to revolutionary veterans, heroes of the armed forces, former leaders of the city over periods, representatives of policy beneficiary families, ethnic and religious groups, labor forces, enterprises and civil servants and public employees with outstanding achievements in the city.
Looking back over the 50 years since liberation, today's Thu Dau Mot city has strongly risen to become the central urban area of the province, developing rapidly into a modern and affectionate city. Nguyen Thu Cuc, Chairwoman of Thu Dau Mot city’s People's Committee shared that from a small town after the war, Thu Dau Mot has continuously developed, becoming a leading locality in emulation movements, with high State budget revenue and people’s well-being thoughtfully supported in both material and spiritual aspects.
On behalf of leaders of the city, Mrs. Cuc expressed heartfelt gratitude to many generations of Thu - Binh Duong people who sacrificed their blood, their loved ones and devoted themselves to the fight for national independence, freedom and who have united and worked tirelessly to contribute to making Thu Dau Mot a proud, civilized and affectionate central city over the past half-century.
Having been attached to and witnessed the daily changes of Thu Dau Mot in recent times, many delegates invited to attend the meeting to express their gratitude to “Thu Dau Mot’s sentimental attachment” expressed their excitement as their homeland is increasingly developing. In that development, all-level Party committees and authorities always pay attention to taking good care of the people’s lives, especially policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors.
"The meetings, joyful handshakes, health inquiries, encouragement and the affection of today's generations towards those who came before will forever remain in the memories of each individual. As a delegate attending the program, Nguyen Nam Tien, Secretary of the Party cell of quarter 6 in Phu Cuong ward shared that it’s not just this program, but “the sentimental affection of Thu land” has been clearly demonstrated in daily life. It is the attention from the Party committees and local authorities towards the people and the mutual care among the people”, Mr. Tien said.
Also according to Mr. Tien, in every local charity program, residents have actively contributed to supporting disadvantaged families. These activities have made the sentimental attachment of Thu land clearly manifest in daily life. "During the working process in the quarter, we have always received the people's support, making our work smoother and strengthening the bonds of love and gratitude. We hope that in any circumstances, the spirit of ‘Sentimental attachment of Thu land’ will continue growing, ensuring that this sentimental attachment will never change”, Mr. Tien shared emotionally.
Gratitude forever etched in our hearts
Born and raised in peace and independence, today's young generation deeply appreciates the sacred value of freedom and happiness. Although they have not personally witnessed the arduous-but-heroic years of war, through glorious history, documentaries and sincere and emotional stories of their grandparents and parents, the youth can somewhat feel the great sacrifices and indomitable spirit of our nation in the journey toward independence and reunification.
Nguyen Bao Lam Phuong, a representative of the youth of Thu Land today shared that their generation is truly fortunate to be born and raised in peace, with ample opportunities for study, work, contributing to the homeland. "We deeply understand that in order to achieve the final victory in the national liberation and reunification cause, countless heroes, martyrs, compatriots and soldiers sacrificed their blood and lives for the nation's independence and freedom. Cherishing and being proud of our homeland’s fine traditions and spirit of gratitude, we are even more aware of our responsibility to uphold and further the revolutionary achievements of our predecessors", Lam Phuong said.
Before the "Sentimental attachment of Thu Land" program, Thu Dau Mot city also organized an emotional gathering with officers and soldiers who participated in the liberation forces that entered and liberated Thu Dau Mot 50 years ago. At 10:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the revolutionary flag proudly flew over the city, signaling its liberation. This reunion took place amid a wave of emotions shared between the youth and veterans who once marched through war. Former officers and soldiers reunited to recall their heroic memories and pass on the revolutionary flame to the younger generation. The program once again reminded all generations, especially the youth, of the priceless value of peace and reunification, achieved through countless sacrifices, so that Thu Dau Mot could develop as it does today.
