Water supply for production and daily life secured

According to Irrigation branch office, the water level of reservoirs in the province in early April showed that Can Nom reservoir was 14.3m, lower than the average level 0.5m; Da Ban reservoir was 34.55m, lower than the average level 1.95m; Doc Nhan reservoir was 23.5m, lower than average level 1.9m; Suoi Giai reservoir was 60.56m, lower than the average level 1.5m. With this water level, reservoirs in the province will ensure enough water for winter-spring crop 2017-2018 and summer-autumn 2018. Especially, Doc Nhan reservoir may not have enough irrigation water for summer-autumn crop 2018 if not using water irrigation economically.

The examination results of drought situation and operation of irrigation works during the dry season showed that in Thu Dau Mot, Di An, Thuan An, Ben Cat, Tan Uyen and Bau Bang had not experienced any shortage of water for domestic use and production. However, there are currently 85 households in Cay Chanh hamlet and Vuon Uom hamlet, Tan Dinh commune, North Tan Uyen district using water from drilled wells with signs of water loss. If the drought continues, 85 households will suffer a shortage of drinking water.

In Dau Tieng and Phu Giao, water supply system in concentrated water plants in communes has promoted its designed capacity and stable operation to meet local people’s demand for domestic water and livestock during the dry season. These are two localities with high terrains, frequent water scarcity in the dry season, so most people have turned to long-term industrial crops such as rubber, so there is no need for irrigation. A small number of short-term plants and rice are use water from pumping stations, irrigation canals, reservoirs... so that they are not in short of irrigation water.
