US President Donald Trump will join a 45-minute one-on-one meeting with Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un at 9am (local time) in Hanoi on February 28, according to the US’s White House.
After this meeting, the leaders will attend an expanded meeting with members of the two delegations.
They will have lunch together at 11:55pm, before holding a joint statement signing ceremony which is scheduled to take place at 2:05pm.
A news conference on the summit’s results will be held on 3:30pm the same day.
After their meeting and dinner on February 27 evening at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Hotel, both the US President and the DRPK leader voiced their optimism about realising targets towards peace and complete denuclearisation in the Korean Peninsula.
US President Trump tweeted that he had “great meetings” and “very good dialogue” with leader Kim.
On February 25, the Presidential Residence (Blue House) of the Republic of Korea said the two leaders could reach a deal on declaring an end to the Korean War at their second summit in Hanoi. Its spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom said he thought even just an end-of-war declaration by the DPRK and the US alone would be enough.
