Early October 6, Vietnamese-German University (VGU) held a commencement ceremony for construction of its new campus in Ben Cat town’s Thoi Hoa ward. Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Thien Nhan, Member of the Politburo, Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Phung Xuan Nha, Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Minister of Education and Training; Tran Van Nam, Member of the PCC, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial NA delegation.
Covering 50.5 hectares, VGU’s new campus with modern design includes functional rooms and convenient works with a maximum capacity of 12,000 students. The project has a total investment of more than US$200million and is built by a joint venture between Bach Dang Corporation and Sang Ban Mai Joint Stock Company.
Established in August 2008 on the basis of international cooperation between Vietnam and Germany, VGU now trains more than 1,260 students in 11 majors at university and postgraduate levels. So far, there have been nearly 400 students graduating from the school and most of them have got jobs.
At the ceremony, Mr.Liem said that this event was of great significance for the province’s task of training and developing hi-quality human resources. The school created opportunities in learning and research in a modern environment with advanced training programs for students in the southeastern region, contributing to supplying hi-quality human resources for socio-economic development of Vietnam in general and the southern key economic zone in particular over the past 8 years. In the coming time, Binh Duong will further create favorable conditions for VGU to work effectively.
