Workers going to school to build up dreams

Not contenting with being unskilled workers, many workers have put more efforts into studying. Overcoming many work-related pressures as well as difficulties of daily life, many workers have gone to school to improve their knowledge and skills for themselves.

Seeking knowledge

Talking about her study, Do Thi Ngoc, a worker of an electronics company in Song Than IP, said, her normal day begun at 5 am, hurriedly ate breakfast, then rushed to the company, finished work in the evening, must prepare family meal, and rode her bicycle to Binh Duong Industrial junior college to study for accountant at 8.30 pm every day. She said: “Many times I felt it was so hard and wanted to give up learning. Overtime working, night shifts, sometimes I have to be absent from school; but I promised to myself arranging well my work not to miss school…

Finishing high school, Ngo Thi Tra Giang left Nghe An to come to Binh Duong. Without any degrees, Giang had to work as an assistant in a private kindergarten. With meager wages, she lived so sparingly but was not able to save much. Then, she decided to go to school to change her life, improve her knowledge. The 19-year-old student must now work all day and learn at night to become an official teacher.

Giang shared with a smile: “When I told my parents that I would go to school, they were so happy. My family usually encourage me in learning, and sometimes send some money to support me. This is a motivation for me to overcome difficulties. I am so proud to be a student. When I stand on the lecture dais, I could imagine my brighter future”.

Learning to better life

In evenings, Binh Duong Industrial junior college is always crowded with students. Ly Quoc Thinh is an IT student of the school and a worker of a carton packing company. Due to good learning results, he received many merit certificates. He works 8 hours per day, and spends his remaining daily time on learning and joining voluntary activities.

“A worker must use not only strength but also skills on work. Skills must be acquired through training to reduce experience accumulating time. Learning is not for a degree, but for knowing, working, and having a better chance in the future”, said Thinh. Besides, Thinh takes part actively in community-based activities of Youth Union.

Studying is a joy. Young workers are proud to choose and pursue this joy. Bui Quang Quy, Vice Rector of Binh Duong Industrial junior college, said: “I am so happy as seeing our “special students” go to school diligently. That is really a “revolution” representing workers’ awareness. Knowledge and skills improvement is crucial to meet requirements of industrialization and modernization process in the current period".
