Workers rush returning to work after the holidays

The latest holiday 30 Apr and 1 May was quite long. Many migrant workers in Binh Duong province had a chance to return their hometown and avisit their family, or went on trips to refresh themselves. All levels of Trade Union also organized practical activities for workers to have a safe and meaningful holiday. At the end of the holidays, on 2 May, all workers returned to work.

Gathering together

This holiday, laborers got 5 days off, so migrant workers in Binh Duong came back home. After several days being with their family, starting from morning of May 1, according to reporters, workers returned to Binh Duong to continued their work on 2 May. Therefore, main roads from western provinces and the Central Highlands to Binh Duong, were very crowded with workers and their country gifts. Also at Binh Duong bus station, vehicles continuously went in and out to pick up workers from other provinces back to Binh Duong.

In lodging houses for workers, the image of “closed doors” was replaced by greetings to each other. Nguyen Minh Tam, a worker of Phu Xuan Company (Thu Dau Mot City), said that his hometown in An Giang, where travel to Binh Duong within only 5 hours by motorbike. So he and his wife came home to see their children and parents on this holiday. This was an opportunity for his family to be fully together without having to think about work, so it gave the couple a comfort and excitement to continue working.

Laborers return to Binh Duong to work after the holiday.

Some migrant workers, who could not afford to go home, choose tourist destinations inside and outside the province. Places such as Suoi Tien Tourist Area, Binh Chau Hot Springs, Dai Nam Tourist Area ... were very crowded on these holidays. Some visited their friends working at industrial parks in the province. Meeting was an opportunity for them to talk about happy and sad things in life. There are also some workers, who spent a lot of time caring for their families after busy days with work.

Safe and meaningful holidays

To help workers have a truly meaningful and safe holiday, from the middle of April, provincial Labor Federation sent documents requesting grassroots trade union to propagate safety, security and order among laborers in the province. Provincial Labor Federation proposed that all levels of trade unions cooperate with functional agencies at the same level and media agencies to propagate and disseminate laws and regulations on road, railway, and inland waterway traffic safety among workers. Besides, giving training of skills for safe traffic; encouraging workers to select public transport services, limit the use of personal vehicles during holidays; sense of responsibility when participating in traffic ...

Following the direction of superior trade unions, local trade unions implemented their own ways, such as: Propagating by loudspeakers in factories; hanging notices; conveying the content of official documents to laborers in meetings. Therefore, workers were conscious of protecting themselves and other people, when participating in traffic, not taking part in social evils.

Also on these public holidays, all trade union levels also organized trips for trade union members to relax. For example, Yin Hwa Vietnam Company’s workers traveled to Nha Trang... Some higher trade union levels in collaboration with enterprises signed union membership programs to open sale points with discount prices for workers to buy essential items.

Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Vice Chairwoman of provincial Labor Federation, said these holidays, laborers spent their holidays on various purposes. No matter what activity, like traveling, returning home, visiting family and friends, or staying in Binh Duong, she believed that the holiday on 30 Apr and 1 May was really meaningful to the labor force. Activities during this holiday will continue motivate, energize workers so that they will return to work excitedly and enthusiastically.
