World’s Environment Day – An event of all people

 

On May 31st, many diverse activities, such as: Binh Duong environmental award 2015, "Walking for the environment", and the fair of recycling things will take place at Becemex Tower to respond to World’s Environment Day (June 5th).

This will be an event of all people. The day will be organized for people to raise awareness of responsible consumption for a sustainable earth and a green - clean – beautiful Binh Duong province.

The event is planned to open at 7 am on May 31st and welcome 2,500 people, including 1,500 Youth Union members from localities, universities, colleges, army force, and about 200 workers, 800 pupils, to attend to ceremony celebrating World’s Environment Day.

At the ceremony, PPC will confer Binh Duong Environment Award 2015 on 3 societies, 4 organizations, 7 individuals having outstanding achievement in environmental protection work. Ms. Nguyen Trinh Cao Son, Deputy Chief of Environmental Protection Bureau, said, Binh Duong Environment Award was organized every 2 years to honor excellent organizations, individuals. In 2013, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment also awarded 2 societies, 4 organizations, 9 individuals having outstanding achievement in environmental protection work. 

Young volunteers participated in recycling for the environment.

The program "Walking for the environment" will be also organized at the day. Ms. Son said, it is expected to have 20 teams that will walk through 2km from Becamex Tower through Thich Quang Duc, Nam Sanh junction, 30-4 street, and then return to Becamex.

Participants will be divided into blocs (50 person/blocs), each bloc has its form, wear uniform, carry flags, balloons, banners, and march through the route. While walking, organizers will evaluate and then award the most beautiful lineup; a stage for performances of flash mod dancing, singing, will be arranged on walking route to create an animated atmosphere at the event and a major impact on the community. 

The recycling fair will be also organized by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with provincial Youth Union. According to Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Van, Chief of Rural Youth Board under provincial Youth Union, the fair will have 200 youth participants undertaking 10 booths, including 2 ones of recycled, environmental friendly products; 2 ones of paper bags guidance; 2 ones of old product exchange; 1 calligraphy booth; 1 paint booth; 1 face painting booth; 1 fingerprint booth to promote environmental protection. These booths are to help people to raise awareness of thrift practicing, encourage the use of recycled products, contributing to effective use of resources thereby reducing the burden on the environment.

Ms. Son said, to prepare for the event, businesses and organizations sponsored printing of 3,000 uniform sets, leaflets and banners, urged the community to participate in the exchange of old things reuse of waste at the fair, cycling for the environment. Localities, agencies, businesses also launched "Green Sunday"; supported tools to collect garbage, planted trees at offices, sanitized rivers… All these activities have created a vibrant atmosphere for the World Environment Day – an event for all people.
