From the 82nd job fair
At the 82nd job fair held at Binh Duong provincial Job Center on Dec. 8, businesses mainly needed to recruit unskilled laborers. The job fair lured as many as 87 enterprises recruiting 6,112 laborers. Specifically, there were 68 businesses with demand on recruiting 3,833 unskilled laborers via online program whilst 21 other companies needed to recruit 1,887 unskilled laborers via direct interviews at the job fair.
Businesses participating in the fair needed laborers for many various trades such as transport service, insurance, electronics, telecommunications, household utensils, security, apparel, food processing, real estate business, education and other services.
Some businesses publicize demand on unskilled laborer recruitment. For instance, Sai Gon Sao MaI Trade-Transport JSC in Thuan An town urgently needs 200 drivers or Hung Du Co.Ltd. needs many unskilled laborers and so on.
In order to attract many unskilled laborers, some businesses have set out preferential policies of vocational training with allowances and salary for trainee laborers. Notably, Hung Du Co.Ltd. describes in detail allowances on accommodation assistance, weekend holiday and excursion for laborers.
Why do businesses need many unskilled laborers?
Talking to us, employee of a company said that owing to production expansion, some businesses recruit unskilled laborers to prevent shortage of manpower after Tet holiday.
Meanwhile, head of human resources department of an apparel company said “Though there is a thorough calculation and we often offer vocational training for unskilled laborers, shortage of unskilled laborers is like an unknown. Some laborers enjoying vocational training at the company unpromptedly quit their job to return their homeland for Tet holiday. Therefore, we must start again by manpower recruitment everywhere”.
Facing this situation, some companies arrive directly at job fairs to seek out unskilled laborers whilst other enterprises encourage laborers to introduce their relatives and friends to companies. In addition, some businesses offer more allowances to keep laborers.
Nguyen Thanh Phuong, head of Binh Duong provincial Job Center, said “At the 82nd job fair, businesses focused on recruiting unskilled laborers. At present, companies, supermarkets and restaurants have focused on recruiting many unskilled and seasonal laborers for the upcoming X’Mas and Tet holidays. From now till Tet holiday, the number of companies participating in job fairs will concentrate on recruiting unskilled and seasonal laborers”.
