Young physicians volunteer for community health

Young physicians "Volunteering for community health" is a meaningful activity of Provincial Young Physicians Association in recent times. This activity attracted the participation of many members with a volunteer spirit, creating a great spillover and being welcomed and appreciated by public opinion.

The Provincial Association of Young Physicians provides free cardiovascular examination, echocardiography, and heart disease screening for children in Bau Bang district.

Come to poor people

Not afraid of difficulties and hardships, young doctors and nurses of the Provincial Young Physicians Association regularly participate in volunteer activities to examine and distribute free medicine to more than 40,000 people inside and outside the province with a total expenditure of over 16 billion VND. Among many "Volunteer for community health" sessions, the program of free medical examination, medicine and gift giving for poor people in An Binh commune of Phu Giao district made a beautiful impression on local people.

From early morning, doctors and nurses from Provincial Young Doctors Association, Provincial General Hospital and Department of Health's grassroots Youth Union were present at the commune’s Cultural House to carefully prepare for the medical examination and treatment for disadvantaged people. Having been informed a few days ago, numerous locals gathered early to wait for their turn to be examined. Knowing that many people are shy, the doctors gently asked about their health, considerately examined the patient, asked about each symptom in detail to diagnose, prescribe and carefully give instructions on how to use the medicine. For mild cases, doctors prescribed medication, vitamin C supplements, and supplements to increase body immunity. When a serious illness was detected, doctors recommend the patient go to a higher-level hospital for timely treatment.

Thach Bu, who lives in Tan Thinh hamlet, said that for the past six months she has had frequent stomach pains. She had takenn medicine but still could not get better and relapsed many times. Today, a group of volunteer doctors came to the commune to examine and treat the disease. She hoped that the doctor would directly examine the cause. After examining her, the doctors diagnosed that she had a stomachache, so they gave her medicine and told her to take it on time. Ms. Bu said: "Listening to the doctor talk about my condition, I feel secure about treatment, I will eat meals and do daily activities in moderation and take enough medicine to completely cure this disease. I thank the doctor very much."

At the end of the volunteer, the doctors of Provincial Young Doctors Association examined, provided free medicine and gave gifts to more than 150 people having difficult circumstances. Volunteer activities to examine and distribute free medicine to people have practical meaning, contributing to the province's good implementation of the goal of ensuring social security, helping disadvantaged people improve their health and prevent diseases.

Give away is to get back

For the doctors and nurses of Provincial Young Physicians Association, each activity, program, and volunteer trip for the community brings different feelings. Le Nguyen The Phuong, Secretary of Provincial Department of Health's grassroots Youth Union, said: “Being close to people, feeling the joy of them when volunteer doctors answers their health questions, makes us love and become more attached to the profession. Giving is receiving, that is what each member of Provincial Young Doctors Association contemplates when participating in volunteer trips."
