Near 6 pm, the loudspeaker in the quarantine area at Lai Uyen Primary School sounded: "Each room sends a representative down to receive rice". Right after that, the lunch boxes were neatly arranged on the table for the F0 to get down to fetch. The familiar scene seems to be familiar to Hoang Thi Thuy, a volunteer teacher participating in support the quarantine area in Bau Bang district.

Leaving the classroom to be a "fighter"
Binh Duong is in harsh days before the danger of the Covid-19 epidemic. When the epidemic hit, teachers were also "soldiers" as they temporarily left the classroms to embark on new tasks of contributing efforts to quickly put an end to the epidemic and bring life back to normal. Under the sun of summer and in a tight blue protective suit as sweat dripping down all the hairs tucked close to her ears, Ms. Thuy seemed tireless when she saw the bright smiles in the quarantine area.
After finishing the teaching program at Lai Hung A Primary School, Ms. Thuy had a summer break as well as the students prepare for a new school year.
Not long after resting, the 4th wave of Covid-19 epidemic broke out. As Bau Bang District Union recruited volunteers to participate in the fight against the epidemic, she did not think twice and registered to participate. She was assigned to support the outer circle at quarantine checkpoints and transport food for people in need. At the end of July, when quarantine centers in Bau Bang district needed volunteers, she was in to distribute rice and supplies to the F0, to assist with disinfecting spray, and to help medical staff to test quickly.
Ms.Thuy confided: "When Bau Bang appeared to have the Covid-19 epidemic, it was during summer vacation, so I felt that if I stayed at home, it would not help in the local disease prevention and control. Although my mother is also worried when her child is on the front lines, she will definitely understand and sympathize with me accompanying with millions of officials, soldiers, and medical teams who are fighting day and night against the Covid-19 epidemic.
The wish for getting to school with students
“In the quarantine area at Lai Uyen Primary School, there are nearly 300 cases of F0 suspected of being infected with Covid-19. When we first entered the quarantine ward, we were also worried. With the spirit of youth and as a teacher myself, I am determined to do the same with everyone else. The medical staffs also support and guide the necessary skills so that we can protect ourselves when exposed to F0 to be safer," said Ms. Thuy. To ensure the safety of herself and everyone in the concentrated isolation area, Ms. Thuy always strictly adhered to epidemic prevention measures by always wearing masks and gloves and regularly disinfecting during the support of anti-epidemic work along with 2 layers of protective gear when taking samples for testing or entering patient rooms.
Ms. Thuy shared: "I couldn't hold back my tears when I saw the soldiers calling to their families. They have not been able to return home for a long time, so it is difficult for them, but they still take care of the people in the quarantine area fully and wholeheartedly; rice soup is never missing. I am still young and have not been involved with my family, so I hope to make a small contribution to help my homeland overcome the Covid-19 epidemic. I hope the epidemic would be quickly controlled so that students can go to school and we can return to our dear students."
