Heart-warming families of revolutionary contributors

0

In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), recent efforts by leaders at all levels in Binh Duong have involved organizing delegations to visit and provide support to families of individuals who have made significant contributions to the revolution, as well as to heroic Vietnamese mothers. Upholding the tradition of "remembering the source of water," Binh Duong remains committed to implementing policies that care for and support the families of these meritorious individuals in various aspects of life.

Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited, presents gifts and encourages families of meritorious people in Tan Uyen City on the occasion of April 30 this year.

 Completed dozens of new houses

According to Provincial Department of Home Affairs, on the occasion of April 30 this year, provincial leaders in coordination with Provincial Military Command will visit and give gifts to 28 families of Vietnamese heroic mothers, People's Armed Forces Heroes, Labor Heroes in the renovation period, and revolutionary soldiers. District and commune levels also gave gifts and organized delegations to visit and encourage families with meritorious services during the historic April days.

Along with the gifts, the provincial leaders expressed their heartfelt gratitude when visiting the families of policy beneficiaries and meritorious individuals in the area. They acknowledged the significant contributions, dedication, and sacrifices made by generations of these remarkable individuals in the struggle for national liberation and reunification. The leaders hoped that these families would continue to uphold their revolutionary and familial traditions, encourage their children to pursue their studies diligently and work hard, and actively contribute to building a prosperous and beautiful homeland. “The sincere feelings of leaders at all levels on every holiday and New Year are the greatest gift for mothers and families. This is a great source of pride for our family,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Gai, the youngest daughter of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Bui Thi Da (Tan Uyen City).

In another meaningful initiative for families of policy beneficiaries and revolution contributors across the province, local authorities have successfully completed and handed over 34 new houses to households facing housing difficulties in honor of April 30 this year. Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Home Affairs, stated that in recent months, the department has worked closely with localities to implement a program aimed at eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. This involved reviewing and compiling a list to ensure all policy families and revolution contributors received proper housing before the April 30 deadline set by the province.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hang remarked, “Localities have been flexible in utilizing funds for repairs and new constructions, particularly by mobilizing social resources. To date, many households have been successfully handed over their new homes.”

A notable example is the home of Mrs. Tran Thi Ly, the widow of a martyr who resides in Tan Vinh Hiep Ward, Tan Uyen City. The local government constructed her original house, which had deteriorated over time. The Steering Committee for "Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" in Tan Uyen City provided 50 million VND to assist in its repair, ensuring that Mrs. Ly now has a decent place to live.

During a recent ceremony celebrating the house handover, provincial and local leaders joined, prompting an emotional response from Ms. Ly. She expressed, “The support from provincial leaders and local authorities for policy families is incredibly meaningful, allowing us to have homes and stable lives.”

Many thoughtful policies

According to statistics, the whole province currently has over 64,000 revolution contributors recognized and receiving preferential treatment for people with meritorious services to the revolution. Among them, there are 16,858 martyrs; 6,236 wounded and sick soldiers of all ranks; 2,219 heroic Vietnamese mothers (currently 22 mothers are still alive); over 38,800 people with meritorious services to the revolution, participated in resistance activities, and were exposed to toxic substances.

The provincial Steering Committee for "Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" has completed the construction and repair of 34 houses for revolution contributors and policy families before April 30 this year.

Every year, the highlight of the province's care for people with meritorious services is to visit, give gifts, and support families on the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27) and Lunar New Year. In celebration of Lunar New Year 2025, the entire province organized visits and presented gifts to 63,875 contributors to the revolution, at a total cost of nearly 67 billion VND. Additionally, gifts were presented to 18 units both within and outside the province, amounting to a total cost of 220 million VND.

In addition to the state budget, local authorities also did a good job of mobilizing businesses and philanthropists to take care of families who unfortunately fall into difficult circumstances. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025 alone, from socialized sources, the whole province provided additional care for revolution contributors with about 3.4 billion VND. Therefore, many families had a full and happy Tet.

Activities to take care of housing, support children of revolution contributors in employment, education, health care, and give health insurance cards and savings books to revolution contributors, and support loans to improve family income are regularly carried out by the province. In recent years, Binh Duong has had its own policies to take care of people with meritorious services, such as: The Provincial People's Council issued Resolution No. 17/2020 to increase the support level for building new and repairing gratitude houses; additional monthly support for revolution contributors is 15-30% higher than the Government's regulations. Namely, in 2018, Provincial People's Council passed Resolutions No. 08 and No. 09. According to these two resolutions, the whole province has about 8,000 revolution contributors receiving additional monthly support with a total budget of more than 3 billion VND/month; funeral support for a number of policy beneficiaries in the province with a support level of 20-30 million VND...

Localities in the province also have practical activities to support and care for the lives of policy families and meritorious people, such as coordinating with units, businesses, and philanthropists to provide monthly care and support to heroic Vietnamese mothers and meritorious people having difficult circumstances. Provide essential items for disadvantaged families such as tables, chairs, altars, wardrobes, televisions, etc. Communes and wards mobilize funds and implement the program of "Meal of Love" at each family of meritorious people.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Home Affairs, stated that in recent years, Binh Duong has not only fully and promptly implemented the provisions of the Ordinance on preferential treatment for people with meritorious services but has also established various policies to improve both the material and spiritual well-being of those benefiting from these policies.

Currently, 99.88% of revolution contributors in the province enjoy a living standard that is average or above that of their residential areas. Additionally, 100% of communes, wards, and towns maintain the title of being exemplary in social security work for revolution contributors and policy families.
