Mr Dung made the remarks while attending a meeting in Ninh Binh on March 30 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the reestablishment of the northern province.

 Despite difficulties in Q1 2012, the province’s footwear sector still reached good growth with total export value of US$214.1mln or 8.8% of province’s total export value, a year-on-year increase of 15.7%.

The GSO said the sector’s export turnover in the first three months was up 15.4 percent against the same period last year. In March alone, it reached US$1.15 billion, a slight increase compared to the previous month.

The province’s export turnover in Q1 2012 reached US$2,419.7mln, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%.

The province’s industrial production value in March was estimated at more than VND10.26trillion, up 11.3% compared to the previous month.
