In light of the global economy being influenced by various factors such as supply chain disruptions, trade conflicts, and the pressing demand for domestic production autonomy, industrial enterprises in Binh Duong are coming together to assert their position as the "backbone" of modern industrial development.
More effectively fulfill the requirements
Mr. Vo Son Dien, Chairman of the Binh Duong Supporting Industry Association (BASI), asserts that as the global economy undergoes significant restructuring of supply chains and faces reciprocal tariff pressures from the United States regarding the origins of supply sources, the supporting industry emerges as a strategic foundation and backbone for the sustainable development of essential manufacturing sectors, including electronics, mechanics, auto parts, machinery, and medical equipment. Additionally, semiconductor manufacturing positions Vietnam as a notable focal point attracting investor interest.

“The establishment of BASI plays a pivotal role in advancing localization, enabling enterprises to access markets, strengthen connections, and gradually engage more profoundly in the global supply chain. Binh Duong stands as the nation's foremost industrial hub, housing numerous industrial parks and attracting over 4,500 foreign investment projects alongside tens of thousands of domestic enterprises, thereby creating an urgent demand for supporting industries. Companies within the province consistently seek domestic sources for components, equipment, materials, and technical services; however, there is currently no representative organization capable of uniting, supporting, connecting, and safeguarding the interests of the business community in this sector. In light of this reality, the formation of BASI is essential to create a specialized entity that supports businesses, serving as a conduit between the business community, the government, and domestic and international trade promotion organizations. BASI is instrumental in fostering training, consulting, digital transformation, and facilitating access to funding for innovation. This, in turn, enhances competitiveness, better aligns with the requirements of the global supply chain, and promotes the sustainable development of the supporting industry in Binh Duong,” stated Mr. Vo Son Dien.
According to Mr. Vo Son Dien, in countries with advanced industries, supporting industries not only generate domestic added value but also play a crucial role in national competitiveness. In Binh Duong, BASI was established through collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Supporting Industries (VASI), an organization that unites over 400 enterprises in key sectors such as mechanics, electronics, new materials, and automobiles. VASI possesses extensive experience in facilitating B2B connections—where transactions and sales occur between businesses rather than between businesses and individual consumers—participating in international trade fairs, and providing training and consulting to enhance enterprise capabilities. This foundation will enable BASI to operate effectively and swiftly evolve into a prominent supporting industry enterprise support organization in the South.
Mr. Phan Dang Tuat, Chairman of VASI, stated that VASI selected Binh Duong to establish a supporting industry association and to serve as the foundation for the entire Southern Key Economic Zone due to its robust infrastructure and a science and technology ecosystem. Binh Duong boasts an innovative framework, a network of universities and vocational schools that adhere to international standards, applied and practical laboratories, STEM educational methodologies that integrate knowledge and skills to address real-world challenges, advanced manufacturing centers, business incubators, startup centers, scientific research facilities, and new-generation eco-industrial parks. In the near future, THACO Group will also launch a specialized mechanical industrial park spanning 785 hectares, with an investment of up to 2.8 billion USD in Binh Duong.
Promote the function of a bridge
Mr. Nguyen Trong Luat, General Director of CICOR Vietnam Co., Ltd., stated: “As Vice President of BASI, I am immensely proud and excited to witness the formation of a business connection ecosystem—one where individuals can share, collaborate, and grow together. BASI was established with the robust support of provincial leaders and the pioneering efforts of Becamex IDC Corporation. This organization transcends mere association; it serves as a beacon that ignites the aspiration for a sustainable, modern, and regionally supportive industry. I hope that the association will continue to flourish, acting as a steadfast bridge for businesses and a catalyst for local and national economic development.”
According to BASI leaders, the association is poised to serve as an effective intermediary between enterprises and state management agencies, as well as among enterprises themselves, including both domestic and foreign-invested entities. The association will assist its members in enhancing management capabilities, advancing technology, expanding market reach, engaging in global supply chains, and providing counsel and critique on policies that safeguard the legitimate interests of its members. The association aims to establish itself as a strategic hub for the supporting industry in the Southern region, fostering localization, technological innovation, and sustainable development, thereby contributing to Binh Duong's emergence as a premier industrial investment destination with significant influence in Southeast Asia.
Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, announced that effective July 1, 2025, Binh Duong will merge with Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. Binh Duong remains committed to its vision of becoming one of the nation's "industrial capitals." The province will persist in fostering a conducive environment through mechanisms and policies designed to support and assist businesses within the supporting industry sector.
Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, urged business leaders to consistently prioritize the welfare of their employees by providing stable employment and enhancing both their material and spiritual well-being. This, he believes, will foster a sense of security among workers in their production and business endeavors, encouraging their loyalty to the organization. He also expressed hope that workers would empathize with the challenges faced by businesses during this period, collaborating with leaders to navigate obstacles and further advance the organization. |
