A new Vietnamese flower supermarket was opened by Vice President of the Vietnamese Association in Japan, Ngo Hung Lam, on October 8.

Vietnamese ambassador to Mexico, Le Thanh Tung, paid a working visit to Monterrey in the Nuevo Leon region of northern Mexico from October 3-7 to strengthen ties between the two countries. 

 Nearly 150 Vietnamese businesses will showcase their products at an exposition to be held in Cambodia’s northeastern province of Battambang on November 24-28.

 A Vietnamese delegation led by Vietnamese ambassador to Russia Pham Xuan Son paid a working visit to Ekaterinburg, Russia from October 5-9 to promote tourism in Vietnam, seek potential for cooperation and work on economic diplomacy. 

Vietnam Airlines and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka, Japan, on October 7 held a seminar to promote tourism of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar in Japan.

On Sept. 30, SP Setia Berhad Group (Malaysia) officially opened EcoXuan new urban project at Thuan An town. EcoXuan is the first exclusive project of SP Setia in Vietnam. The project is designed perfectly on an area of 10.8ha with the total investment capital of US$177mil. EcoXuan is away 16km from HCMC. The distance will shortened after completion of Phu Long Bridge. With the advantaged position, hundreds of clients were booked in the opening day of EcoXuan.

 A seminar was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 6 to discuss measures to boost the export of hand-made Vietnamese products to Japan. 

 The Vietnam Tourism Association and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will grant the 2010 Vietnam Tourism Awards to excellent businesses in the field on October 17.

Indonesia has just signed an agreement to import an additional 700,000 tonnes of rice from Vietnam, bringing the total imported volume to 1.2 million tonnes so far this year.

The 11th Vietnam Agriculture Trade Fair (AgroViet) is to be held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in Hanoi from November 11-14.  

The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) is drawing up a new strategy to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), with a significant shift in the approach to the issue.

Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair 2011 (VIFA 2011) co-organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Trade Promotion Bureau, the HCMC Trade and Industry Department and the Ho Chi Minh City Handicraft and Wood Industry Association has taken place at Tan Binh Exhibition & Convention Center from Oct. 5-8.

 Since the start of this year, local footwear companies have produced as many as 7 million pairs of shoes and reached an export value of US$615mil, a 7.9 increase from the same period last year and winning 75% of yearly plan.

This statement is assessed by the provincial People’s Committee. Many local goals have showed a fair growth. This is a basis for the province to excel 2011’s proposed tasks.
