According to a book named “Gia Dinh Thanh Thong Chi” written by Trinh Hoai Duc, lacquer industry in Binh Duong has been set up by some emigrants from the North and Central since the end of 17th century. In 1901, the French set up Thu Dau Mot Fine Art School, creating a breakthrough from transmitting a traditional trade to training trade regularly. The school trained a large volume of manpower for Binh Duong lacquer industry. Thanh Le lacquer workshop founded in 1943 has been considered as a large name, creating a trademark for Binh Duong lacquer industry.
