18 model plantation and farmstead owners praised in Binh Duong Province

July 17, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony appraising typical plantation farmstead owners in Binh Duong Province.By the end of 2011, about 938 plantations and farmsteads have been established in Binh Duong Province covering 10,302 hectares mainly in districts of Ben Cat, Tan Uyen, and Phu Giao and offering jobs to 5,151 people in fields of plant crops, husbandry, and combined crops, husbandry, and others.So as to encourage farmers, organizations, and individuals to invest into economic development, for years, the province has implemented policies and guidelines of the central and local authorities to support and promote economic development. The “planning of economic development integrating into processing industries and consumption of produces in agriculture-specialized regions of Binh Duong Province” is approved while land-use certificates are granted in the sideline of technology-transferring courses, credit policies, and rural infra-construction, etc.However, operation of plantations and farmsteads is facing certain obstacles ranging from quality, product competitiveness, production efficiency, food safety and sanitation, investment capital, agricultural material prices, production cost, and income to climate changes and disease outbreaks. Besides, the State’s investment is still low and even inaccessible to plantation and farmstead owners let alone drawbacks in policies and guidelines.Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Chair of Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Tran Van Nam appreciated and appraised production achievements of 18 model owners.
