4 leading fruits developed with great concentration in Binh Duong province

Binh Duong provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to implement the main fruit tree development project, the flower and ornamental plant industry, safe vegetable production, and fruit and vegetable processing industry until 2030 in the province.

Accordingly, the plan is implemented to strive to achieve the goal of over 40% of processed and preserved fruits and vegetables for export to reach advanced production technology level and capacity; attracting 1-2 enterprises to invest in fruit and vegetable processing in the province. Developing flower and ornamental plant cultivation in urban agricultural areas in cities and towns in the South and agricultural areas in towns in the North, tourist destinations, with an area of about 500 hectares.

In fruit-growing regions, the proportion of newly planted and replanted areas using high-quality varieties reaches over 80%. By 2030, the area of fruit tree cultivation in the province will reach about 13,000 hectares, with 50 region codes assigned to the province's main fruit crops. The certified area of land for growing food crops meets GAP standards, accounting for 20% of the total area. Over 95% of vegetable and fruit samples are inspected and tested to meet safety standards.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in coordination with relevant units, effectively implements the tasks of developing fruit trees associated with concentrated commodity production areas, gradually transitioning to ecological and organic agriculture. Focus on investing in synchronized scientific and technological applications, linking production, processing, preservation, and consumption of products, and establishing planting area codes for key fruit trees. The area of fruit trees development in the province is expected to reach about 10,600 hectares in 2025 and 13,000 hectares in 2030. The development direction includes four main types of fruit trees by 2030, including mango trees, jackfruit trees, durian trees, and banana.

Flower and ornamental plant cultivation areas to about 380 hectares by 2025 are developed; of which, urban agricultural areas will be distributed in cities and towns in the South, covering about 250 hectares, and rural agricultural areas will be distributed in towns in the North and tourist destinations, covering about 130 hectares. By 2030, the estimated area will be about 500 hectares.

The development of vegetable production can reach an area of ​​6,500 hectares for cultivation, with a yield of 105,000 tons of various vegetables by 2025, and 7,800 hectares for cultivation, with a yield of 136,500 tons by 2030. The application of technology, digitization, traceability, and e-commerce are strengthened to develop diverse forms of agricultural business, meeting the development of digital technology serving agriculture; encourage the establishment of specialized areas for growing vegetables and fruits that meet food safety standards, VietGAP, GlobalGAP etc. The processing of main vegetables and fruits, local specialties, and OCOP are developed to stabilize, improve the quality, food safety, and prolong the shelf life.
