At present, Co’s farmstead has placed frequent jobs for 30 laborers with an average of income of VND4.5mil and above.

Improving difficulties gradually
In 1986, from Thanh Hoi commune, Tran Thanh Co took his family to Hieu Liem commune to create a new life. At that time, Hieu Liem was still an isolated land with numerous difficulties, making many people say goodbye to the new land.
However, with determination and patience, Co encouraged his wife and children to overcome difficulties. His first obstacle was the shortage of capital and proper production model.
In order to ensure food source for family, he planted rice, corn, manioc along to streams. Later, he was assigned to improve land for a company’s banana growing project. Despite difficulties, the job opened a new work for him. With an accumulated capital source from this work, in 1994 he started growing cashew and forest and he grew rubber trees ten years later.
In 2009, he invested additional 4 chicken raising farms in line with high technology. With the success of growing rubber and breeding farm, he in 2010 continued growing citrus trees to take advantage of available chicken manure.
At present, his economic models have been in good operation. “This success is thanks to our will and determination”, Co affirmed.
Farmers should pay attention to renovation
At present, Co’s family has possessed 15 ha of rubber plantation, 12 ha of orchard, 5 chicken farms. In 2013 he will build 10 more chicken farms. In addition, he is eyeing a crocodile, python and cow raising models to increase income.
Regarding experiences of overcoming difficulties and approaching market, Co shared “Farmers like us also need to renovate in conformity with the country’s economic situation. In addition, we must make efforts to learn experiences and new techniques to apply into production and business. However, to reach success, first of all is still determination, patience and will”.
Co said that he is ready to share his experiences to help many farmers improve difficulties in production and business.
In 2011 Co enjoyed an income of over VND1.5bil and he estimates that his income will double in this year.
