In the first half of 2025, Binh Duong province's export turnover reached US$ 18.4 billion, an increase of 13.9% compared to the same period in 2024, further making significant contributions to the province's economic growth.
Efforts from multiple sides
Despite numerous challenges in export markets during the first six months of 2025, Binh Duong province maintained a positive growth rate in export turnover (up 13.9%) while the Industrial Production Index (IIP) rose by 10.19%, nearly double the increase recorded in the same period of 2024. This is a clear signal of the robust recovery in production activities in the province, particularly in sectors with high export value such as electronics, wood, textiles and technological equipment.

Nguyen Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong provincial Wood Processing Association noted that Vietnam's wood exports, including those from Binh Duong, to the U.S. market have grown. However, businesses are cautious about the technical barriers that the U.S. market imposes for trade defense. Notably, the wood industry is facing demands to trace the origin of materials used globally. In the European Union (EU), this is a mandatory requirement, necessitating that every product and shipment prove the wood or materials used were sourced from non-deforestation zones. This regulation aims at combating global deforestation. Alongside this, product quality and stricter environmental and social regulations are increasing, requiring businesses to meet these new standards to participate in the EU and U.S. markets.
To support local businesses in expanding into international markets, Binh Duong has been focusing on investing in transportation infrastructure, inland ports and warehousing facilities to help reduce logistics costs for enterprises. Key routes connecting Binh Duong to major seaports have been significantly improved, enabling businesses to transport goods more conveniently and efficiently. This forms a crucial foundation for the province's export activities, which are expected to continue achieving significant results in the near future. |
“For sustainable production and exports, as we join the “big game”, businesses inevitably need to make transition towards greener practices. Without this green transition, it will be difficult for products to enter the EU and U.S. markets. Currently, a shared concern of Binh Duong's wood industry is that green transition necessitates digital transformation. Only through digital transformation can we obtain comprehensive data to measure emissions within factories, thereby paving the way for green transition. Several international organizations and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) have been actively supporting a number of wood industry enterprises in going green", shared Mr. Liem.
Pham Van Xo, Chairman of Binh Duong provincial Export Association emphasized that promptly resolving challenges related to land, infrastructure, energy and human resources has helped businesses confidently invest in expanding production. Binh Duong is leading the way in developing next-generation industrial zones, combining green manufacturing with integrated logistics, creating long-term advantages for exports. Binh Duong's export position has been elevated as local enterprises move beyond simple processing. The province is gradually transforming into a high-tech industrial hub, a convergence point for smart manufacturing, modern logistics and sustainable value chains.
A new boost
Pham Ngoc Thuan, General Director of Becamex IDC stated that Becamex IDC is accelerating the development of new strategic industrial parks (IPs) such as Cay Truong IP, the expanded Bau Bang IP and various other synchronized infrastructure projects. This is an important preparatory step for the sustainable development phase, aiming at enhancing the productivity, quality and added value of export goods.

Binh Duong is also exploring the establishment of a free trade zone linked with modern logistics development. If successfully implemented, this will provide a major boost by reducing supply chain costs and increasing the competitiveness of the province’s export goods. Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of LEGO Group (Denmark) announced that LEGO Group would inaugurate a distribution center in Dong Nai province by the end of this year. This project is part of the strategy to enhance flexible and efficient supply chain capabilities. The center has already started trial operations with the first shipments from LEGO Vietnam’s factory (located in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park III).
The LEGO Vietnam factory is expected to operate 100% on renewable energy by early 2026. In addition to installing 12,400 rooftop solar panels, the LEGO Group has also announced a key partnership agreement with the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) to build an energy center on a plot of land adjacent to the factory. This energy center will incorporate Vietnam’s first large-scale battery energy storage system, which is expected to become operational by the end of 2025. The remaining renewable energy demand will be met through power purchase agreements (PPAs). LEGO is also continuing its efforts to produce bricks from more environmentally friendly materials”, said Mr. Niels B. Christiansen.
Enterprises hope that relevant authorities and sectors will promptly coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to regularly organize trade promotion briefing conferences with the Vietnam Trade Offices abroad. Functional agencies and localities are also expected to collaborate with the Vietnam Trade Office network to frequently update information on foreign market conditions; regulations, standards and requirements in overseas markets that may impact import-export activities of domestic enterprises and provide recommendations for businesses, industries’ associations and import-export enterprises within the province… |
