Part 2: VSIP-an outstanding IP on environmental protection
VSIP Joint Venture Company (JVC)’s strategy is to lure hi-tech projects. This plus enduring activities in environmental construction has helped VSIP become the greenest-cleanest and nicest IP in Vietnam thanks to strict regulations on environmental protection.
Green IP
Nguyen Phu Thinh, General Director of VSIP JVC said that VSIP’s operational motto is to selectively lure investment projects with strict regulations on environmental protection, aiming to keep it be always green-clean and nice in accordance with initial criteria set out by the two governments Vietnam and Singapore. For that reason, all companies operating in VSIP now have their own waste water treatment systems. VSIP also owns a modern waste water treatment system that is regularly maintained. So far, VSIP has been one of Vietnam’s greenest-cleanest and nicest Ip models thanks to strict regulations on environmental protection.

As of June 2016, VSIP JVC completed construction of VSIP 1 and VSIP 2’s infrastructure and let out their land for industrial production to enterprises with total projected area of 472.9 hectares and 330 hectares, respectively. The daily capacity of VSIP’s waste water treatment plant was raised to 24,000 cubic meters, ensuring waste water treatment for it and Gucoland services area. VSIP 2 also fulfilled construction of its concentrated waste water treatment plant for the first phase with the daily capacity of 6,000 cubic meters. In addition, infrastructure of the expanded VSIP 2 was perfected with a waste water treatment system for the first phase having the daily capacity of 6,000 cubic meters.
Since being established, VSIP has always given top priority to environmental protection. VSIP has a perfect traffic system with design on the criteria of minimizing traffic congestion-one of main reasons leading to environmental pollution.
VSIP has also always attached special importance to planting green trees. This has not only ensured economic development in association with environmental protection, but also brought the beauty to VSIP. With the efforts by the JVC and enterprises, the rate of verdure coverage in VSIP 1 and VSIP 2 has reached 100%, according to the VSIP Management Board…
Further upholding environmental protection
Since 2010, VSIP JVC has finished reports on environmental impact assessment (EIA) for VSIP 1, VSIP 2 and expanded VSIP 2. They have well observed contents of the EIA reports approved by functional agencies; excelled at taking solutions to minimize environmental pollution while sufficiently realizing works on environmental treatment, programs on environmental management and supervision. The JVC has also carried out its program monitoring the quality of waste water after being treated at each member plant in VSIP…
Mr.Thinh added that VSIP is seen as a typical IP in terms of environment and infrastructure in Vietnam. VSIP has always continuously operated its concentrated waste water treatment station; improved incidents and upgraded existing works while building another waste water treatment plants, ensuring the quality of waste water at environmental standards after being discharged. Possibly speaking, druing the past 20 years, the JVC made efforts in building up an IP at requirements of optimal services and environment. This is now a prestigious and quality destination for investors.
Kurt Droeshout, General Director of P&G Vietnam Company in VSIP 1 said that along with international standard infrastructure, VSIPs are always clean with all surveillance targets on air and noise at environmental standards, contributing to bringing efficiency in production and business to the company.
With achievements done, VSIP JVC has asserted it as Vietnam’s top industrial and urban park developer. In the coming time, VSIP will continue upholding results done in environmental protection while closely coordinating with relevant units to well realize environmental protection. The IP will also further perfect policies on environmental protection and build works on environmental protection in line with the progress of projects.
VSIP JVC was also presented a lot of great prizes over the past time. Particularly, the JVC won the SaigonTimes' Top 40 award for “Best Performing Foreign Investor for sustainable development” for four consecutive years from 2005 to 2008. In 2006, the JVC was awarded the third-class Labor Medal of State President and the certificate of merit of the Ministry of Finance for its good performance in tax obligation. The JVC was also named the Best Industrial Developer in 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2014 by UK’s Euromoney magazine. Other prizes include the Vietnam Architect Association’s recognition of the VSIP’s symbolic project model in the renewal period; the national “Green Technology” award in 2010...
