In 2018, Thu Dau Mot city had 38 out of 41 targets on socio-economic development reaching and exceeding the set plan. This result came from the efforts by the local Party, government and people.

In 2018, the city absorbed 55 FDI projects with a total investment capital of US$97million, bringing the total number of FDI projects herein so far to US$97million. The city also attracted 1,206 domestic projects with more than VND2.63trillion, lifting the total number of such projects herein till now to 7,009 capitalized at more than VND945,179billion. Especially, the city’s total State budget in 2018 was estimated at more than VND4.68trillion or 148.30% of the province’s target or 139.65% of the resolution of the local People’s Council while State budget spending was more than VND1.7trillion or 96.19% of the resolution of the local People’s Council.
Over the past time, leaders of the city concentrated on urban development, planning and rejuvenation. The city is a locality with perfect infrastructure facilities. In 2018, the city completed and put 11 works, including streets of Le Chi Dan, Hoang Hoa Tham, Nguyen Tri Phuong, Tran Ngoc Len…, into operation.

Along with achievements done, Thu Dau Mot city faced some shortcomings on urban rejuvenation, waste water treatment-collection, construction management…for change.
For 2019’s targets, the city will further bend on removing obstacles, boosting economic growth; make the shift of economic structure towards the growth of service-industry and agriculture. The city will also promote home industries; attach special importance to increasing the ratio of services, especially hi-quality ones. In addition, the city will promote socio-economic infrastructure facilities in association with urban rejuvenation and environmental protection; take solutions to ensure the shift of agricultural structure towards urban agricultural models; step by step redress shortcomings in the process of construction-development; gradually improve the quality of people’s life…
The city has set concrete plans to well realize some major tasks in 2019. The city has also rechecked and continued fulfilling targets of the Resolution No.05-NQ/DH of the 11th local Party congress for the 2015-2020 tenure.
In 2019, the city will strive to gain 60.88% in service, 39.07% in industry and 0.05% of agriculture in the local economic structure. The rate of the local cultural families will be 97% and above. The rate of the local poor households under the province’s new poverty line will reduce to below 1%. There will be 100% of streets, alleys under the city’s management with lighting systems…
