Economic targets rising to tens of times
Upholding achievements done by then Song Be province, Binh Duong province’s Party, government and people have determined to overcome challenges and mobilized a general strength to further carry out the renewal cause.
Mai Hung Dung, Director of Planning and Investment said that upon this, since 1997, Binh Duong has always reached a high and stable growth. In 1997, the province’s economic structure was 50.4% in industry, 26.8% in services and 22.8% in agriculture. Industrial production value was estimated at around VND4trillion while total retail revenue of goods and services reached VND3.042trillion. Total export value was US$363mln and investment attraction was still very modest…
As of late 2014, the province’s industrial production value obtained VND187.531trillion, 46.9 times higher than that of 1997. Total retail revenue of commodities and services was VND103.493trillion, 34 times higher that that of 1997. Total export value reached US$17.74bln, nearly 49 times higher than that of 1997. State budget collection was VND32trillion, nearly 39.2 times higher than that of 1997. The local economic structure was 64.4% in industry, 36.4% in services and 3.2% in agriculture.
According to provincial People’s Committee, since 1997, the province’s industrial manufacture has achieved a high and stable growth in accordance with orientations set out by the local Party congresses over periods. The local industrial growth has been always associated with the southern key economic region’s industrial growth and made great contributions to economic development of the locality in particular and of the whole country in general. The province has absorbed a large number of foreign investors for industrial development.
The birth of industrial parks and compounds has also helped Binh Duong promote the local industrial development as planned and ensure an harmony between the local targets on socio-economic development, environment…
Further mobilizing general strength
According to Dr.Nguyen Van Hiep, Principal of Thu Dau Mot University, who is also former Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, with a profound grasp of the Party and State’s guidelines, policies and resolutions, the province’s Party and government have sorted out an economic structure of industry-services and agriculture in line with the local potentials and strong points.
Based on the above basic, the province has mobilized all resources from economic sectors to build infrastructure in a synchronous and modern way, absorbing investment capital at home and abroad. Together with the motto of “The entire political system has a consensus with industrialization and modernization cause”, this has helped Binh Duong become one of the country’s outstanding localities with an effective shift from agricultural economy to industrial economy…
Possibly speaking, Binh Duong’s current success has come from the consensus between the local Party, government and people in realizing a goal for a prosperous locality. The consensus has helped Binh Duong mobilize a general strength, uphold geographical advantages and take full advantage of internal and external forces to successfully carry out its economic development targets.
For the local economy further growing up, Binh Duong has focused on taking measures, including perfecting main streets; making investment in industrial parks in the northern region of the province; mobilizing resources to develop new urban areas; promoting hi-tech industries with great competitiveness; continuing reforming administrative procedures…Along with the above measures, achievements done over the past time will help Binh Duong further develop in the new period.
