Early March 12, provincial People’s Committee held a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony for hosting the events of the World Technopolis Association (WTA) in 2018, a land lease contract signing ceremony to enlarge the project of Far Eastern Corporation in the Bau Bang industrial park and a ceremony granting investment certificates for the first time of 2018 to investors. Attending the event were Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial People’s Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly delegation and Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.
Binh Duong hosts 2018 WTA events
At the event, Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Lee Taek Gu, Head of Daejon city’s Planning and Coordination Committee in South Korea; Kang Byeong Ju, Secretary General of the WTA inked a MoU on organizing the events of the WTA in 2018 between provincial People’s Committee and Daejon city.

The WTA is a multilateral international organization created in 1998 in Korean city of Daejeon with the purpose of connecting the advancement of science and technology to regional development, to enhance bilateral and multilateral development through exchanges and cooperation between technopolis cities, to contribute to the common prosperity of humankind through advancement of science. At present, WTA has 105 members from 47 countries. Joining WTA, member countries will have opportunities to exchange human resources, information and technologies.
Under the MoU, a series of events of the WTA will be held in October 2018 in the province, comprising of the 11th session of the WTA; hi-tech fair and exhibition; global innovative and creative forum; the WTA market forum…
Mr.Kang Byeong Ju said that since establishing the friendship in 2005, Daejon city and Binh Duong have had mutual cooperation and exchange programs. He hoped that the organization of events of the WTA in 2018 in celebration of its 20th anniversary will contribute to popularizing the image of Binh Duong to members of the WTA as well as developing the province into a top locality in smart city construction in the Southeast Asian region.
Absorbing more investment capital
On this occasion, provincial People’s Committee also handed over investment certificates for the first time of 2018 to 19 projects, including 17 FDI projects and 2 domestic ones.
It is known that over the past two months, the province absorbed more than US$435million from 32 new projects with a total registered capital of US$233.9million and 13 extra-ones with US$141.5million…Since early this year, the province has ranked second nationwide in FDI attraction only after HCM city.
Speaking at the event, Mr.Liem affirmed that Binh Duong’s admission to the WTA plus concrete efforts in smart city development will be the driving force, the opportunity and the premise for the province to become a civilized, modern and sustainable city in the coming time. He said that the province’s granting investment certificates for the first time of 2018 to investors together with a land lease contract signing ceremony to enlarge the project of Far Eastern Corporation in the Bau Bang industrial park is seen as the initial success of the province, aiming to create a favorable investment climate for businesses.
He also stressed that provincial leaders will always accompany businesses. Upon this, the province will form up flexible solutions to improve the local investment climate. These efforts aim to create the best conditions for businesses to work effectively, contributing to developing Binh Duong into an attractive destination for all investors in the coming time.
