On the afternoon of February 18, Nguyen Thanh Truc, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee received a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Satoshi Ishii, a Principal Urban Development Specialist at ADB about loan support for the realization of Binh Duong Water-Environment Joint Stock Company (BIWASE)’s new project.
At the reception, Mr.Satoshi Ishii said that ADB and JICA are expected to support loans for BIWASE to implement the expanded Tan Hiep water plant project, bringing its total capacity to 100,000 cu.m per day, supplying water for 74,000 households and industrial parks in the province. The total investment capital of the project is estimated US$ 46 million, including US$16million from ADB and JICA. This is also the first project in Viet Nam supported by ADB without the guarantee from the Government. Therefore, ADB will consider assessing the financial status of BIWASE and support the implementation of the project in the soonest time.
Mr. Truc thanked ADB for its support in water supply and drainage projects in the province and affirmed that the expanded Tan Hiep Water Plant project is essential for the local socio-economic development. BIWASE is a competent company, so the project will be implemented smoothly in the near future with the support of ADB.
