Agricultural development on modern ways

Implementing rural industrialization and modernization, after re-establishment of Binh Duong province, local agricultural sector has showed a strong development. Especially, transfer on agricultural structure on hi-tech, urban agriculture development in attachment to processing industry has contributed to build and develop local agriculture on modern ways.

Strong transfer on agricultural structure

In the period of 1997-2005, implementing rural industrialization and modernization, the provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development transferred tech-science advances and high capacity species and plants for farmers. In this period, Binh Duong focused on planting high efficient and capacity perennial trees and orchards. Besides, specialized areas have been zoned and put into operation. They include rubber specialized areas in Ben Cat, Tan Uyen, orchard specialized zones along to Sai Gon River in Thuan An and Thu Dau Mot and more.

Meanwhile, local specialized zones have applied new techniques to diversify forms in service for agriculture. Rural promotion policies of capital assistance, material transport and supply, product processing and consumption have been also spurred.

Many in An Son commune, Thuan An town eagerly said that application of tech-science into production has been invested strongly, bringing significant results. Many new nurslings and advanced techniques applied into production have contributed importantly to increasing capacity, quality and efficiency of plants.

In the period of 2007-2010, the provincial agricultural sector gained a breakthrough in applying hi-technology into production. On Feb. 15, 2007, the provincial People’s Committee set out Decision No.1013/QĐ-UBND on issuing Binh Duong hi-tech agriculture project for the 2007-2010 period. This decision was to make a breakthrough in agro-forestry and aquatic product production, bounding for safe production of farm produce.

In 2008, the provincial People’s Committee planned to build 3 hi-tech agriculture areas including An Thai in Phu Giao district with the area of 411.75ha; Tien Hung in Tan Uyen district on 89.95ha and Tan Hiep dairy cow zone in Phu Giao district on 471ha. Some products have appeared at big chain of supermarkets of Metro, Big C, Sai Gon Coop and more.

In this period, local farmers’ models of hi-tech application into agricultural production have emerged sharply.

A breakthrough way

In the 2011-2015 period, implementing Resolution No.26/NQ-TW on agriculture, farmer and rural area, the provincial party committee issued the Program No.26-CTr/TU on transferring agricultural structure on urban and hi-tech agriculture in attachment to processing industry for the period of 2011-2015. after 4 years of carrying out the program, production value of agro-forestry and aquatic products gained a stable growth at 4% per year. As of the end of 2014, production value of agro-forestry and aquatic products won VND14,272bn, a 3.7% increase from 2013 and 15.6% from 2010.

Pham Van Bong, vice director of the provincial department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that after 4 years of implementing the provincial party committee’s program, local urban and hi-tech agriculture sector has developed rapidly in quantity and scope.

As for cultivation field, modern models of vegetable production have contributed to cut labor and cost while animal husbandry sector has showed significant results of minimizing environmental pollution, epidemic diseases and bringing safe sources of food for consumers.

Until now, Binh Duong has zoned and launched building of 4 hi-tech agriculture zones with the total area of 979.71ha across districts such as Phu Giao, North Tan Uyen and Tan Uyen town. Over the past 4 years, Binh Duong has built and launched implementation of some projects and models of hi-tech agriculture application with capacity and quality of 80-100%.

In addition, 100% of perennial tree area has been mechanized; over 90% of pig and poultry herds have been raised at central areas.

Implementing program of developing urban and ecological agriculture, the provincial administration ratifies project of developing local tourism products till 2020, project of developing urban agriculture in the South Binh Duong.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Hiep, chairman of North Tan Uyen district People’s Committee, local application of tech-science advances into agriculture production has reached high economic efficiency. Accordingly, orange and mandarine farms bring income of VND600mn per ha and more.

Meanwhile, capacity of farming and breeding farmsteads contribute greatly to local economic development as well as affirm the provincial party committee’s new and right ways on transferring agricultural structure.
