On the afternoon of March 12, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD) held an online conference on promoting agricultural production amid Covid-19 epidemic. Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee presided over the event in the province.
According to a report by the MoARD, the agricultural sector is facing great challenges from bad weather and epidemic diseases. In the face of the situation, the sector had had close coordination with ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises to take solutions in a synchronous way, including instructing relevant agencies to have appropriate adjustment of the rice crop structure; rechecking the development of production areas for main export products; making hi-tech application in preserving, processing…
The MoARD also suggested localities to continue maintaining their growth momentum, ensuring supply of food, foodstuff during and after the Covid-19 epidemic. Relevant units need to map out methods on demand for agricultural products, fisheries from localities affected by the Covid-19 epidemic after its outbreak ends.
