Vocational training for rural laborers in Binh Duong has over years reached remarkable results. However, the work has yet to meet the rising demand.
Though agriculture accounts for a small ratio in the local common economy, its role is very important. In the process of Binh Duong agricultural development in the new period, hi-tech agriculture and modern agricultural models have been paid attention. To win high development for local agriculture, vocational training for farmers is very crucial to create effective human resources.
At present, residents living in rural areas account for about 60% of total local population, so vocational training for rural laborers is an essential demand to cater for new rural building in coming time. The province has so far had 30 vocational training facilities and placed jobs for about 46,500 laborers, lifting the rate of trained laborers up to 60%.
Binh Duong Farmers Society’s Center for Farmer Support and Vocational Training is a unit leading in training job for rural laborers. In the 2007-2010 period, the center opened 53 vocational training classes for 2081 farmers. These classes contributed to offer jobs and improve rural laborers’ life.
Many difficulties
In reality, there is a shortage of exemplary models for farmers. In the 2007-2010 period, training classes on mushroom planting were held at Phu Giao district and brought remarkable results.
Most of learners have built effective mushroom farmsteads by themselves and enjoyed stable income. Still, some others could not apply trained knowledge into reality, owing to shortage of capital.
At present, the number of farmers attending vocational training classes remains limited, owing to poor awareness and limitation of opened classes.
In the period of new rural building, vocational training will create a driving force for local rural development.
