Grasping technical advances and market demand, Binh Duong farmers have built valued economic models. With available and preferential policies, agro-economic models in the province have been under development.
From farming models
In terms of farming model, household rubber planting model is the most highlighted one. At present, the province has had 130,000ha of household rubber farms, accounting for 65% of local rubber area.
Wild boar breeding in Phu Giao
Over the past 2 years, rubber planting has brought high income for local residents. Since 2011, price of rubber latex is at VND25,000-35,000/liter. On average, one ha of rubber will offer about VND2mil per day. Nguyen Van Hung in Phuoc Sang commune, Phu Giao district, said “Many local people have changed their life, thanks to rubber”.
Meanwhile, models of planting fruits have been under development stably. Tan Uyen and Dau Tieng districts have had famous orchards with profits in equivalence to rubber plantations. Some typical farmers leading in the model of planting fruits include Sau Xe, Ba Chien, Ba Tham, Nguyen The Hoang in Tan Uyen, Nguyen Thanh Thuy in Ben Cat… On average, they reap over VND200mil per year.
To animal husbandry
The local animal husbandry has reached remarkable results. The industry has affirmed its position and appropriated agriculture development in the new period.
At present, the whole province has had 420,780 cattle and 2.8mil poultries. Nguyen Thi Dep in Phu Giao district, said “I’ve joined in breeding chicken on contracts for many years. The model is suitable to poor families”. Besides, local farmers have paid attention to breeding highly valued animals of crocodile, wild boar, stag, deer…
Over years, local farmers have obtained success, thanks to the above models. With preferential policies, the models will be developed and contribute to the local agriculture industry.
