Agricultural production now accounts for a big proportion of An Binh commune’s economic structure in Phu Giao district. But in recent years, the commune has reaped considerable development in terms of trade and services.
Despite difficulties in 2011, An Binh commune still achieved an economic growth of 8%. As late 2011, there were 85% of total households getting involved in agricultural production and 15% in trade and services.
The strong point of the local agricultural sector now lies
in perennial trees, including rubber and pepper. The commune is home to 1,823
hectares of rubber, 129 hectares of pepper, 51 hectares of cashew and 39
hectares of fruit trees. The commune’s animal husbandry sector also sees
diversification with more than 19,000 pigs and more than 130,000 fowls. 
Pepper is one of An Binh commune’s key plants
In 2011, the average income per capita of people herein was VND18mln. The commune also opened classes on rubber latex-tapping skills for the local youths while making favorable conditions for them to work at the local rubber plantations or gardens.
The commune has also created positive changes in terms of trade and services. The presence of a main street of the province through the commune has made the local trade and service activities get animated.
Although only accounting for 15% of the commune’s economic structure, the trade and service sector has positively contributed to supplying necessary commodities for the local people.
As of late 2011, the whole commune only had 247 poor households or 6.7% of total, 186 near-poor households or 5.04% of total. The commune also attached special importance to ethnic affairs via many significant programs, including granting land to ethnic households, organizing training courses on transfer of sci-tech advancements to them…
