Stability on economy
After district separation, Bac Tan Uyen district has more than 40,000ha of natural land area, 35,000ha of which are agricultural land and the remaining area are non-agricultural land.
The district’s economic structure now eyes agro-forestry – industry – service. The locality reaches 11.21% in economic growth pace, VND32.8mil/year in per capita average income, more than VND1,170bil in the total goods retail and service revenue, over VND1,800bil in agricultural production value. As for agriculture, in the past winter-spring crop, the entire district harvested more than 1,446ha of vegetables and rice.
Lam Thanh Tham, the owner of orchard in Chanh Hung hamlet, Hieu Liem commune said that on his 50ha farm mainly including orange and mandarin, he now reaps 30-40 tons of fruits on the 13ha area, bringing an income of about VND500mil.
Implementing the national goal program of new rural building for the period of 2011-2015, the entire Bac Tan Uyen district will have 4 communes winning the standards of new rural area. Nguyen Huu Loc, secretary of Bac Tan Uyen district party committee said that agricultural development is now advantage of the locality, in which a 2,000ha orchard area is under establishment along riverside localities. Apart from developing orchard areas, the district will develop eco-tourism and garden houses in the future.
In addition, the district has 4 industrial compounds and parks with the total area of more than 1,100ha, attracting 132 enterprises. Furthermore, the district has 24 mineral exploitation areas. In the second quarter of 2014, the district reaped over VND90bil in budget collection.
Investment in infrastructure
Bac Tan Uyen district focuses on investing in infrastructure facilities. At present, the entire district has 50 projects, 31 of which are under preparation of investment and 19 others under investment. Additionally, the locality’s basic construction capital plan is at VND67.389bil in this year. Accordingly, the locality has disbursed VND43.852bil, winning over 65% of its plan.
Implementing the project of building district administration center and resettlement area, the district has thus far completed 100% of site clearance and compensation. As for extensive project of area at Tan Thanh commune, the work is under completion of planning. Nguyen Van Hung, general director of Becamex IDC, the investor of Bac Tan Uyen district administration center and resettlement area assessed that Bac Tan Uyen is the new district but has many potentials of economy and geological position for attracting investment and developing local socio-economy.
Speaking at the recent working session with Bac Tan Uyen district’s leaders, the provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung highly appreciated the locality’s efforts in overcoming difficulties and suggested that the locality should in the coming time jointly solve shortcomings and spur progress of projects. In the other hand, the district should check area of public land areas, allocate and build cultural and public works for local people as well as soon complete the remaining criteria of the national goal program of new rural building, contributing to develop Bac Tan Uyen district strongly.
