In order to take Bach Dang fly away, Bach Dang grapefruit cooperative team is set up with the participation of 12 members. After its operation, the team members enjoy income of hundreds of millions of dong per year.
Improving quality of grapefruit
Since the start of this year, Bach Dang grapefruit cooperative team holds market survey visits for members and cooperates to offer products for market directly. At present, aside from the local market, products of the team appear across Dong Nai, HCMC, Ha Noi. Especially, the team’s products are directly sold for Co.opMart Binh Duong with the price of VND30,000 per kg.
In addition, grapefruit plantations of the team members attract numerous visitors. Since the start of this year, the team cooperates with Green Eye Resort to welcome 7 delegations including 750 visitors for grapefruit plantation visits.
Nguyen Huu Tam, head of Bach Dang cooperative team said that the team members are always aware of learning experiences, contributing many ideas of product production and consumption to improve quality of their products as well as increase prestige of Bach Dang grapefruit trademark.
Besides, the team launched 4 meetings to discuss issues of preservation of grapefruits after harvest, ways of care and pest control on grapefruit tree. Moreover, the team well implemented work on agricultural promotion, tech-science application; guided farmers how to use mechamize equipments in production to minimize production costs, increase income for the team members.
Particularly, the team researched and instructed technique of blossom on Tet holiday and lunar March. Grapefruit harvested in the two periods will give a high profit. In addition, the team mulled over technique of layering and offered layers for local growers.
A high income
After many years of research and technique guidance, the team members gain their expectation of harvesting grapefruits in the expected time. The total income of the team members obtains more than VND2.1bil and a profit of more than VND1.3bil for the area of 4.96ha. This income is much higher than previous years. Duong Thanh Phong, member of the team said that with the area of 1ha, his family reaps nearly VND600mil since the start of this year.
As one of the vanguard farmers in applying the VietGAP model in Bach Danh commune, Nguyen Huu Tam shared that grapefruit growers must take a book to record process of care and fertilizer for their grapefruit plantations.
Over the past time, the team often holds tech transfer meetings for local growers to raise output, quality and consumption market for their products.
Pham Van Hoang, chairman of Bach Dang commune People’s Committee said that farming economy becomes a key area of new rural economy in Bach Dang commune. At present, Bach Dang grapefruit is shortage of supply for orders. The commune will in the coming time perfect its transaction office of grapefruit product to take Bach Dang grapefruit trademark fly away and improve local growers’ income.
