Despite lower yield than previous year, pamelo saw double price and promising sales on Tet holiday. Farmers in Bach Dang have been hustling to be prepared.
By following VietGap and strict blossom treatment, the 1,600 square meters pamelo orchard of Mr. Nguyen Huu Tam at Dieu Hoa Hamlet has yielded plenty of fruits in a promising selling season for Tet.

Mr. Tam is taking care of his orchard to be readied for sales on Tet holiday
Tam said that farmers should follow thorough techniques including distribution of blossom in two months in advance before triggering the blossom by fertilizers.
The appearance of the pamelo is very decisive for the price, prompting farmers to take more care for their orchard especially pest prevention to service consumers in Tet.
Last year, Tam earned VND 120 from selling pamelo, of which VND 95 million he had earned in Tet.
This year, it was estimated that he could earn approximatedly VND 100 million thanks to higher price and bigger pamelo.
Mr. Ngo Van Hai, Chair of Bach Dang Commune Farmer Association said that the yield might be reduced by 30 to 40% than previous year but farmers have been pending for good news to sell their particular produces at VND 50,000 per kg.
Also informed by Hai, Bach Dang pamelo has been fallen short at ordering for its widening brand name.
Bach Dang Commune, currently, has over 500 families working on about 400 hectare of pamelo, of which 3.5 hectares have been qualified by VietGap.
Farmers are more eager to receive the support of Provincial People’s Committee to develop localized special orchards of the commune.
Accordingly, 224 families have registered for renovating their orchards to concentrate on pamelo and orange-leave pamelo. Up to date, 11 families have renewed 1.71 hectares for pamelo.
