Banks strive to avoid year-end congestion

In order to avoid ATM transaction congestion, Internet banking transaction errors, etc., commercial banks are actively implementing many safe and effective solutions in banking activities; at the same time, focusing on ensuring security and quality at transaction points, ATM systems, CDM - automatic deposit machines in the province.

Biometric enhanced

Mr. Nguyen Vo Duy Khuong, Deputy Director of Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) - Binh Duong Branch, said that Vietcombank Binh Duong is resolutely implementing biometric authentication (biometrics), thereby increasing human resources, arranging staff to work overtime on Saturdays and Sundays to support customers to complete authentication as soon as possible according to the roadmap set by the State Bank (State Bank) before January 1, 2025 in the individual customer segment (individual customers). Up to this point, the branch has completed biometric authentication for nearly 200,000 individual customers/650,000 individual customers who have opened CIF at the branch. At the same time, the branch has stepped up propaganda and guidance on updating authentication for institutional customers to continue supporting customers to complete before July 1, 2025 according to the roadmap prescribed by the State Bank of Vietnam.

Banks are ready with plans to ensure stable, smooth and safe payment operations.

According to Mr. Chu Lam Thai, Deputy Director of Information Technology Division of Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB), up to now, the number of customers who have performed biometric authentication has reached about 90% of the total number of customers who need to perform transactions. To achieve this result, as soon as the State Bank issued regulations, SHB established Project Team 2345 to carefully evaluate and select biometric solution providers and design the overall architecture on all application layers and related systems to avoid omissions. Smooth coordination and reasonable division of responsibilities between departments in the project are key factors that help the bank quickly complete biometric authentication.

To avoid disruption of transactions during the peak season at the end of the year, in the past 2 years, banks have upgraded the Core Banking system, considered the core of the banking information system. The new system allows banks to handle large transaction volumes, meeting the rapid growth of the bank and especially limiting the occurrence of overloads during peak periods. The system meets the requirements of business operations with high transaction growth (average 9-15 million transactions/day). In addition, some banks have opened additional separate payment accounts on digital channels, with transaction processing speeds increasing many times over. Banks also expand the diverse ecosystem of digital payment services to make it more convenient for users. In addition, banks also apply Big Data Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), multi-layer security... to optimize the experience and ensure safety for users

Ready to serve all transaction needs

It has become a custom that at the end of the calendar year and during the Lunar New Year, the demand for transactions and purchases increases in all sectors and fields, so payments are also higher.

Mr. Nguyen Vo Duy Khuong said that Vietcombank - Binh Duong Branch has a plan for treasury security, ensuring safe and effective cash transactions; at the same time, there is a specific plan for the branch's ATM operations, arranging staff to work on holidays and holidays; supervising security work to ensure safety at transaction points with treasury and ATM. The branch also closely coordinates with competent authorities to provide information to promptly prevent, stop and handle violations of the law in the field of card payments, ATMs, POS and payment methods using high technology to ensure proper implementation of regulations and measures to ensure safety and security in electronic payments.

Vietcombank staff - Binh Duong Branch instructs customers on how to use digital banking

Mr. Pham Duc Trung, Deputy Head of the Treasury Accounting Department of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) - Binh Duong Branch, said that this year, customers' demand for cash has decreased due to the rapid development of electronic payments using QR codes, e-wallets, transfers, etc. However, Agribank always ensures the supply of money to ATMs to serve people's needs, especially at the end of the year. The bank also increases the number of teams on duty at transaction points and ATMs to promptly handle incidents (if any may incur).

According to leaders of commercial banks, the State Bank has stricter regulations to protect users when making online payments in the context of increasingly sophisticated technology crimes and methods of stealing information, stealing property, and defrauding people, affecting the development of digital banking activities.
