Safe zone constructed
The plan for the establishment of an animal disease-free area was carried out by Bau Bang district on the basis of the 1174 plan of the provincial People's Committee on the establishment of cattle and swine foot and mouth disease prevention and control zones in Binh Duong province in 2016-2020.
Nguyen Van Hien, Head of Bau Bang District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station, said that in implementing this plan, the People's Committee of Bau Bang district issued guiding documents relating to the prevention and control of epidemics and animal diseases, and timely allocation of funds. So far, in Bau Bang district, there are 225,628 pigs, 3,953 buffaloes and cows, and 2.5 million poultries. In 2017, the number of pigs vaccinated against foot and mouth disease in small farms in the district is 16,500 doses; the number of pigs quarantined at Tham Rap bridge checkpoint was 271,802 pigs and 400,737 piglets.
The certificate of animal epidemic safety with foot and mouth disease in pigs of Bau Bang district was signed by Department of Animal Health on February 26, 2018 and valid until February 26, 2023.
