After more than five years of implementing the national target program on new-style rural construction, with the efforts by sectors, authorities at all levels, especially contributions by locals, new-style rural communes in Bau Bang district have reached socio-economic development with the spiritual and material lives of locals improved constantly.
Lives of locals improved
Under the national target program on new-style rural construction, Cay Truong 2 commune in Bau Bang district focused on building and upgrading the local traffic infrastructure system over the past time. There were 27 rural roads built with a total expense of more than VND30million. The district also paid attention to fostering the local power grid.

Banh Quoc Trung, Chairman of Cay Truong 2 commune said that upgrading rural roads has contributed to facilitating the local trade activities. The lives of locals were improved with the average income of VND55 million per personl in 2019, up VND11million compared to that of 2014. The material facilities of schools at all levels herein reached national standards, meeting the local pupils ‘demand for learning.
Whilst, Vuong Tan Phuong, Chairman of Lai Hung communal People’s Committee said that Lai Hung was recognized as a new-style rural commune in 2016. The commune has continued implementing many synchronous solutions to maintain and raise the quality of the local new-style rural construction criteria.
After five years of implementing the national target program on new-style rural construction, Bau Bang district has so far had all 6 communes meeting criteria of the program. The rural image of these communes has got more thriving with socio-economic development, material and spiritual lives of people improved constantly. The average income of the local people has reached VND52million per person per year. The rate of the local poor households has reduced to 0.66% and there have been more than 90% of schools meeting national standards, 100% of communes, townships reaching national standards on healthcare…
Nguyen Xuan Le, a resident in Lai Uyen township’s Bau Long quarter said that through the national target program on new-style rural construction, the local rural image has got more thriving with social welfare works constructed, contributing to promoting the local economy and raising the lives of the local people.
Towards new-style rural district
Over the past years, Bau Bang district attached special importance to realizing the national target on new-style rural construction and initially lured enthusiastic participation from the local people and enterprises. Accordingly, the district has to date built up a synchronous infrastructure system with effective production models, step by step changing the local rural image. The district’s total capital for new-style rural construction was estimated at more than VND7.3trillion, including nearly VND4.7trillion, and approximately VND2.7trillion from socialization resource.
Leaders of the district said that one of highlights in the local new-style rural construction program is to increase locals’ income and decrease the rate of poor households in communes. Accordingly, the district needs to well realize agricultural restructuring towards the linkage of value chain and sustainable development; further make the shift of plant structure towards goods production in association with the market and in line with the local soil and weather conditions; increase the areas for growing vegetables, crops and fruit trees with hi-economic efficiency; strengthen sci-tech advancements into agricultural production for better results.
Nguyen Van Thuong, Vice-Chairman of Bau Bang district’s People’s Committee said that in order to become a new-style rural district in 2020, Bau Bang will continue attaching special importance to promoting effective economic models, forming up concentrated areas on cultivation and animal husbandry with high value, competitiveness, consumption market and high efficiency.
