According to experts, the 2016 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival will get animated from late Jan. to early Feb., 2016. The purchasing power of essential commodities like food, foodstuff, confectionary, alcohol… will surge on this occasion. Knowing this, agents and small traders in Bau Bang district have prepared adequate supply of goods for Tet.
Diversification of essential commodities
As surveyed, there is a diversification of essential commodities for Tet like food, foodstuff, confectionary…on stalls at markets of Lai Khe in Lai Hung commune, Tan Hung in Tan Hung commune, Bau Bang and Lai Uyen in Lai Uyen commune. Noticeably, 90% of products at the markets are domestic ones, 60% of which are stuck with “hi-quality Vietnamese goods” stamp.

Anh, the owner of a variety store at Lai Uyen market said that she has prepared enough goods to serve customers’demand for Tet. The majority of goods at the store are Vietnamese goods with reasonable price and high quality.
Small traders in the district have also ensured adequate supply of glutinous rice for Tet. Thuy, the owner of a rice store at Lai Khue market said that apart from two kinds of golden flower and Thai glutinous rice with the selling price of VND16,000-VND22,000 per kg, he has also stockpiled many kinds of rice at people’s daily demand before and after Tet.
Many other commodities like footwear, clothing have been sufficiently prepared by the local small traders at customers’ demand on the holiday.
Adequate supply of beverage
Like previous years, the beverage market has frequently got bustling on days near Tet. Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (Sabeco) will increase its supply by 20%-30% for the upcoming Tet festival with unchanged price.
According to the owner of a beverage outlet at Tan Hung market, 333 beer costs VND225,000 per box, Heineken at VND380,000 per box, Tiger at VND332,000 per box…As of now, the prices of various beer kinds remain unchanged with ample supply and are expected to increase by VND20,000-VND50,000 per box on days near Tet.
District-based beverage agents have also sufficiently prepared many kinds of soft drink for Tet. Also according to Mrs.Anh, the prices of soft drink products are predicted to be still stable during Tet, due to adequate supply.
Vo Thanh Giau, Vice-Chairman of Bau Bang district’s People’s Committee said that the district will tighten control over preparation of Tet goods; take measures against trade fraud, smuggling, poor-quality products while making inspection of paying Tet bonus and salary for workers for timely solution.
