Advantages

Under the Resolution of the 7th Plenum of the 10th Party Central Committee on agricultural development, farmers and rural areas, Bau Bang district has got thriving steps in agricultural production.

Le Thanh Tam, Vice-Chairman of the district’s People’s Committee said that the district’s agricultural structure has shifted towards goods production with high value and quality, step by step decreasing the proportion of cultivation and increasing the proportion of animal husbandry. The district’s agricultural production value last year was estimated at more than VND1.69trillion with the average value of output on one hectare of farming land reaching VND64.5million

Implementing the district’s policy on concentrated farm economic development, many households have bravely invested in modern breeding facilities and cultivation systems to serve their hi-tech agricultural models. Among 267 farmsteads in the district, there are 36 pigs breeding farms, 34 chickens breeding farms and 9 fruit trees planting farms with hi-tech application.

“So far, there have been 100% of land for growing perennial trees with mechanization; 80% of breeding farms with automatic feed systems; 34% of poultry herd and 29% of cattle herd bred under hi-tech models. This is a favorable condition for the local agricultural sector till 2020 to develop towards hi-tech models”, Mr.Tam added.

Linkage strengthened

Bau Bang district has set targets of striving to gain the annual growth of agricultural production value for the 2016-2020 period at 5%-6%, the average production value on one hectare of farming land at between VND90million and VND110million. To realize these targets, the district will boost the linkage between the State, businesses, scientists and farmers. This will also facilitate businesses’ investment in agricultural production and farmers’ access to sci-tech advancements…Upon this, the district will carry out zoning for agricultural production based on strong points & conditions on soil and weather, in which safe vegetables will be mainly planted in Long Nguyen, Lai Uyen, Hung Hoa…; citrus fruit trees in Long Nguyen, Tru Van Tho, Cay Truong II…and animal husbandry in Lai Hung, Tru Van Tho…

According to leaders of the district, through the above linkage, the district will promote hi-tech agricultural production with consumption market and processing on site; production zones at VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. The district will replicate hi-tech agricultural models in line with farmers’ production conditions; uphold the role of hi-tech agricultural parks in sci-tech transfer, consumption…

Mr.Tam also affirmed that the district has strengthened activities on trade promotion, supporting organizations and individuals to get access to potential markets as well as making mutual coherence to expand markets in and out of the province. Moreover, the district will further research and raise proposals on adjustment of policies on agriculture and urban agricultural development…, creating favorable conditions for businesses, organizations and individuals to approach capital for investment and production…
