Becamex IDC: Joining hands to build social houses

Becamex IDC has made efforts to help lessen the burden of the province in building social houses by building 50,000 apartments, providing accommodations for nearly 127,000 low-income earners. This is also seen as a task of Becamex IDC till 2015.

This was affirmed by Nguyen Van Hung, CEO of Becamex IDC. He also explained that building social houses is now a thorny problem, but as a State-run company, Becamex IDC has realized its responsibility in raising the living quality of workforce, contributing to helping the province solve the issues of social welfare towards sustainable development.

A social housing block in the Phu Hoa residential estate is under completion

Becamex IDC has spent 19 land areas on working out its project of building 50,000 social houses for low-income earners on a total area of 306,478sq.m with construction area of 1,491,791sq.m. It is estimated that once completed, the project will provide accommodations for nearly 127,000 low- income earners.

According to Nguyen Hoan Vu, head of the Sales Department of the Social House Program under Becamex IDC, Binh Duong’s population in 2010 numbered 1.64mln. Among 1,050,000 direct laborers, there were 724,514 immigrant ones. With the annual labor demand of 20,000-30,000, the number of immigrant laborers will be very great in 2015 and 2020.

In 2008, provincial People’s Committee approved its program of building social houses for low-income earners. But now, there are only 13,480 low-income earners enjoying this program. This is also the reason for Becamex IDC to strive to build 50,000 social houses for low-income earners, contributing to lessening the burden of the program in this field.

Becamex IDC’s social houses are harmoniously built and arranged in the industrial, service and urban zones invested by the corporation. Eligible people for the project include workers, officials, civil servants and soldiers who take stable jobs, but have no houses. Each house of 30sq.m is sold between VND80mln and VND160mln.

According to Mr.Hung, this project will help Binh Duong in general and Becamex IDC in particular to effectively realize the task of stabilizing and developing a high-quality workforce at industrial parks’ demand, contributing to promoting the province’s sustainable development.
