From a district with low start and limited socio-economic infrastructure facility but thanks to creation and solidarity, Ben Cat district has developed rapidly, shifting from agricultural locality to industrial one.
From an agricultural district to industrial one
Despite difficulties and challenges, the district party committee has mobilized strength of the public and upheld advantages to excel economic goals in the trend of increasing the industrial density. Therefore, the locality has gained a high and overall growth rate with the industrial density of 87.1%, service 7.3% and agriculture 5.6%.
Ben Cat pays attention to clean and hi-tech industrial development.
In terms of industrial development, the district has excelled solutions and policies for investment appeal. In the 2006-2010 period, the locality has lure additional 702 local and foreign projects, totaling projects up to 1,205 with a total capital of over VND4,310bil and US$3bil.
Breakthrough from industrial parks
Success in the district industrial development lies in breakthrough of vision. Specifically, the district has built projected industrial parks (IPs) as a lever for local industrial growth.
Accordingly, the locality has paid much attention to building infrastructure facilities of IPs. The entire district has so far 8 projected IPs of Viet Huong 2 IP, My Phuoc 1, My Phuoc 2, My Phuoc 3, Bau Bang, An Tay, Rach Bap… with the total area of 4,068ha.
At present, many IPs have upheld their efficiency, luring hundreds of foreign projects with a total capital of over $3bil.
Notably, with a synchronous and perfect infrastructure facility, many projects with large capital source have been invested in the locality. For example, Kumho Corp’s tire plant has a total capital of $380mil, Kraft Vina Co.’s paper plant $180mil, Kirin Acecook Vietnam Co’s beverage plant $60mil, Setia Becamex Co’s Ecolakes project $600mil…
To uphold the done results, the district has set out some key tasks including sustainably industrial development. It is sure that the district will develop further, helping the locality fly away on the road of industrialization and modernization.
