After being separated from Ben Cat district under the Government’s decision No.136, Ben Cat town has made efforts in urban development. Provincial People’s Council has also just approved a project recognizing Ben Cat as a third-class city.

Over the past time, the town mobilized all resources to reach standards of a third-class city with hundreds of works on traffic, healthcare, electricity, education and public lighting-verdure systems built.
The town now has 2 hospitals, 8 health stations, 3 clinics…at the local people’s demand for healthcare. In terms of education, there are 55 schools at all levels, including 34 public schools and 21 private ones, at the local pupils’ demand for learning. In the 2017-2018 academic year, the whole town had a total of more than 50,000 pupils, up nearly 15% compared to the previous academic year. There are now 23 out of 34 public schools herein meeting national standards.
Possibly seeing, the town’s synchronous investment in traffic, education, healthcare, electricity, water, waste treatment and environmental protection plus urban rejuvenation with in-depth development has improved the local urban image.
The town’s socio-economic development has also facilitated the local State budget revenue and spending, contributing to enhancing the spiritual and material lives of the local people and increasing the local population with the average growth of 2015-2017 period at 5.4%.
Further improving urban quality
Bui Duy Hien, Secretary of Ben Cat town’s Party Committee affirmed that the town’s achievements done over the past time are the pride of the local Party, government and people. The town has upheld accomplishments of Ben Cat district, further tapped strong points and grasped opportunities to promote the local socio-economic development, improve the spiritual and material lives of the local people while maintaining the local political security and social safety-order.
In the coming time, the town will strive to fulfill standards towards a second-class city while further upholding the strength of the whole political system in the local urban development. The town will also research and map out policies on flexibly realizing investment projects; effectively carry out a task of mobilizing all resources for construction investment projects…Initially, the town will focus on socialization of pre-school education at the local demand in this domain.
To enhance the effectiveness of urban management in association with civilized urban lifestyle construction, the town will further bring into full play the strength of the whole political system, making basic changes of the awareness, responsibility and action in building civilized urban lifestyle, upholding the fine traditions of the nation and locality. The town will also form up civilized streets, quarters, hamlets; effectively foster models to bring into play people’s self-management role in association with strengthening the effectiveness of State administration, especially in terms of construction, urban order and environmental hygiene. All will contribute to developing Ben Cat into a civilized and modern city.
Mr.Hien added that the town will further make efforts in improving the local urban quality towards the goal of becoming a second-class city after 2020 under the province’s orientation.
