Commodities are plentiful
From the end of 2017 to now, the market situation in Ben Cat is stable, goods were plentiful and diversified, meeting the demand of people. The town has 1 supermarket (Vimart), 9 traditional markets and 6 temporary markets to stabilize the market. Commodities of stabilized units originating from domestic producers with complete price listing, quality assurance, models, food safety and hygiene.
According to People's Committee of Ben Cat town, in 2017, the economic growth rate of the town was 23.5%, the average income per capita is 83.1 million VND (73.6 million VND in 2016). The industrial sector, trade - service, agriculture output exceeded the targeta set by the town People 's Council. Forecasting, the shopping in the area during the Lunar New Year 2018 increased 5 - 10% over the same period in 2017. Regarding the inventory of essential goods and price stabilization before, during and after the Lunar New Year, the peak period will be from January to April 30, 2018, then in the remaining months in 2018, will be carried out at business establishments in the town. For stabilized-price sales activities, mobile selling points, supermarkets, traditional markets, Ben Cat agricultural products market and temporary markets, it will be concentrated from 26 Jan to 15 Feb 2018; happy market-days, the program to bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas will happen from 17 Jan to 2 Mar 2018; Spring flower market from 8 Feb to 15 Feb 2018; Selling points of households from 8 Feb to 15 Feb 2018.
Ms. Vo Thi Loc, manager of Vimart, said that the unit agreed with the town to reserve essential goods to ensure supply to meet people needs before, during and after Lunar New Year 2018. The supermarket has prepared enough essential items to serve people.
Ben Cat District People's Committee asked that reserved goods before, during and after Lunar New Year 2018 must ensure good quality, safety and hygiene, enough amounts to meet people needs. The selling price of items in the stabilization program must be guaranteed, and lower than selling price of the same products at the same time on the market at least 5-10%. The Town People's Committee arranged business locations, organized spring flower festival with 55 stalls, many kinds of flower, plants, calligraphy painting; arranged 66 selling points of flowers, plants, fruits and selling points of households. The town will also organize sales outlets of stabilized goods; 4 parking places on Tet holidays.
Strengthening the inspection and control
To carry out the task of stabilizing the goods market, ensuring security and order before, during and after Lunar New Year 2018, from the beginning of the year, Ben Cat People's Committee promulgated, set up inspection teams, implementation plans, such as decision on the establishment of Steering Committee for the fight against smuggling and trade frauds and the fight against the production and trading of fake goods; inspection teams for agricultural material trading establishments; inspected and assessed food safety conditions of establishments engaged in agricultural and forestry production and fishery in the area. Steering Committee for Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (Steering Committee 389) of Ben Cat followed the plan of Provincial Steering Committee 389 and assigned specific tasks to each member in the Steering Committee, contributing to effective prevention and fight against smuggling activities, trade frauds, production and trading of counterfeit goods during Tet holidays.
Nguyen Van Linh, Head of Market Management Team No.3 (Ben Cat Town), said that the unit developed a market management plan, enhanced propaganda to raise awareness of enterprises, small traders and people through posters with visual contents and images about not trading smuggled cigarettes; At the same time, collaborated with the town Radio Station to propagate regulations on business registration, price listing, goods and services, measurement of goods quality on loudspeaker system. The team also set up plan to prevent smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods in the area before, during and after Lunar New Year 2018. Mr. Linh added, to implement the market stabilization program, Market Management Team No.3 coordinated with Economic Chamber of the town to develop plans, coordinate with localities and enterprises to implement the program. In the coming time, the team will actively collaborate with concerned agencies to strengthen the market management, combat the trade of prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods and other trade frauds under their respective competence to protect consumer’s interests.
The essential items for people on occasion of Lunar New Year 2018 in Ben Cat Town include food (rice, sticky rice), processed food (sugar, milk, MSG...), fresh food (meat, cattle, poultry meat...) with a total value of 10,075 billion VND (excluding petrol, medicines). For traditional markets, essential items include food (10 tons), processed food (210 tons), fresh food (7 tons) with a total value of 3.8 billion VND.
