Returning Ben Cat before the announcement day of Ben Cat town, everyone will realize breakthrough achievements in industrial development in this land. Ben Cat has changed every day, becoming an industrial and urban town under synchronous development.
The main reason of Ben Cat’s strong development lies in developing industrial sector in the northern area, changing image of rural agriculture and developing industry, trade, urban and service. More than one decade ago, Ben Cat’s production value reached only VND929bil. At that time, Ben Cat had only 184 local enterprises with the total investment capital of VND158bil and 50 foreign companies with the total registered capital of US$223.6mil.
After 12 years of development, Ben Cat has been the industrialization locality leading in the province. Ben Cat now homes to about 1,800 projects, more than 1,300 ones are from the domestic enterprises with the total registered capital of nearly VND10,500bil and nearly 500 FDI projects, capitalized at nearly US$6bil. These projects account for nearly 31% of total FDI capital invested into Binh Duong.
Nguyen Huu Chi, former president of Ben Cat district People’s Committee, secretary of Bau Bang district party committee (the newly-separated district from Ben Cat) said that along with the provincial administration’s instruction and attention, Ben Cat made greater efforts to serve industrial development. Over the past years, Ben Cat has mobilized all sectors to build a modern urban image, so the locality has lured more and more businesses.
Breakthrough from industrial parks
Ben Cat has focused on building industrial parks as a breakthrough foundation. At present, advantages of 9 industrial parks and compounds covering an area of nearly 3,100ha in Ben Cat have promoted their efficiency. On the main roads such as DT744 in An Tay commune, Viet Huong 2 and An Tay industrial parks have attracted nearly 60 projects with the total investment capital of nearly US$500mil. On the national highway No.13 passing My Phuoc township, industrial parks such as My Phuoc 1,2 and 3 invested by Becamex IDC are considered a strong breakthrough on investment attraction with 352 foreign projects, capitalized at approximate US$2.8bil.
Industrial parks in Ben Cat under synchronous and modern construction have become a foundation for industrial development for the provincial northern area. Herein, industrial parks are linked through key traffic roads such as national highway 13, DT744 to the HCMC and provinces and cities under the key economic zones. The local advantages are doubled when projects of My Phuoc-Tan Van express highway, trans-Asia road, Ho Chi Minh road, belt road are under construction. Once completed, these roads will become an important bridge to transport commodities to ports and airports rapidly and simultaneously help investors save time and transport cost significantly.
Most of great projects are located at the locality. They include Kumho Asiana Group (Korea), capitalized at US$360mil, Craft Vina Company (Thailand) at US$180mil, Colgate-Palmolive Vietnam Company (the US) at US$41mil, Kirin Vietnam Company (Japan) at US$60mil, Dai Nippon Printing (Japan) at US$35mil for the first phase, Maruzen Foods Corporation at US$104mil, Tomoku Vietnam Co.Ltd. at US$47.6mil and etc.
The very effective investment attraction from industrial parks in Ben Cat has contributed to industrial development, creating high production value, occupation and increasing income and so on. Aside from industrial parks are immense and modern urban areas under synchronous planning, creating an overall development of socio-economy, taking Ben Cat into a town in the near future.
