Ben Cat town’s industrial development has contributed greatly to creating high industrial production value, levitating budget collection, solving employment for hundreds of thousands of laborers inside and outside of the province. Particularly, local residents’ life has been changed rapidly with an average income of VND40.2mil per capita per year.
However, the rapid industrial development is in dire need of homology on urban infrastructure development. With nearly 2,000 domestic and foreign enterprises, the locality has attracted tens of thousands of experts, engineers and managers. In the other hand, Ben Cat has focused sharply on education. At present, 2 universities including Thu Dau Mot and Vietnamese-German are under construction at the locality.
From this reality, problem of accommodation to meet laborers’ demand should be solved as soon as possible. Therefore, Ben Cat has soon planned residential and urban areas in the trend of industrialization and urbanization. In terms of urban development, Ben Cat has concentrated on synchronously building urban areas in an attempt to serve local sustainable development.
Over the past years, Ben Cat has zoned and built 18 residential and urban areas with the area of 4,744ha. Additionally, the locality has rejuvenated street image at communes away from the central area.
Thanks to synchronous development, urban image in Ben Cat has changed rapidly. At My Phuoc, Tan Dinh, An Tay or An Dien and so on, image of streets and civilized urban areas has been emerged. Realizing real value of Ben Cat, domestic and foreign enterprises and corporations have strengthened investment projects in the town. For instance, SP Setia Corporation of Malaysia has invested in Ecolakes project, capitalized at US$600mil. This project has met entrepreneurs and experts’ demand on accommodation.
Trade and service get breakthroughs
In Ben Cat, aside from rapid development of urban areas and industrial sectors, trade and service have over the past years indicated a strong change. On average, the town reaches a yearly growth of 50%-60% in trade and service.

Ben Cat’s development of trade and service is a persuasive proof for economic structure transfer. In this locality, many regions have developed trade and service sharply. According to Ben Cat town People’s Committee, nearly 2,000 business certificates is granted per year. Until now, Ben Cat homes to 22,000 business households with the total registered capital of approximate VND3,300bil. These business households’ effective operation has contributed to levitate local service value. In 2013 alone, Ben Cat’s service value reached VND6,430bil.
In addition, trade infrastructure in Ben Cat has become heated up with strong investment of many corporations. For example, Vinatex Corporation has invested in 2 supermarkets and one traditional market to serve local people’s demand on shopping. Meanwhile, Becamex ISC has invested in 5 mini supermarkets for laborers.
Aside from retail service, many banks have opened branches in Ben Cat town. They consist of An Binh, Eximbank, A Chau, Kien Long, MHB and so on. Moreover, numerous restaurants and hotels have sprung up like mushrooms after the rain. And, Ben Cat now has many coach terminals with traveling of many people and transport of hundreds of tons of commodities per day.
Ben Cat now becomes lively at night. Coffee shops and eateries grow like mushrooms. An owner of hotel in My Phuoc 2 IP revealed that from the HCMC, he arrived at Ben Cat to buy land lots in 2008 – the time of “fever” of land. Realizing Ben Cat’s potentials, he has invested in 2 hotels in the locality.
Development of trade and service has contributed to change local residents’ life. An Dien, An Tay, Tan Dinh, Thoi Hoa, My Phuoc and so on seem to wear new clothes. Possibly speaking, industrial growth in the locality has created an impetus for economic structure transfer and impacted directly on local people’s life.
