Thanks to the close instruction of the province plus the flexibility of the local Party and government, Ben Cat town reaped spectacular development steps over the past years. The town’s economic structure was shifted under the plan with the income of locals on increase.
Ben Cat town is now home to 10 industrial parks and compounds with 4,030 hectares in total. So far, they have basically been covered by investors and generated jobs for more than 141,000 laborers. The town’s total production value in 2016 was estimated at more than VND82.32trillion. Of the total figure, more than VND67.76trillion came from industrial production; more than VND14.09trillion from services and VND469.3billion from agricultural production.

Over the past time, the town’s urbanization, industrialization and modernization speed was also fast, contributing to absorbing more investors. This helped the town’s industrial manufacture reach high and stable growth. In Q1, 2017, the town attracted 90 domestic and FDI projects. The figure has brought the total number of domestic and FDI projects flowing into the town so far to 2,462 with total investment capital of more than VND5.56billion and US$24.64billion. The result significantly contributed to the local socio-economic development.
With synchronous development of industrial parks, services and urban areas, the town’s key streets, comprising of highway 13, DT741 street, belt roads…were built and upgraded, contributing to promoting the local industrial-services development. Bui Duy Hien, Secretary of the town’s Party Committee said that over the past years, the town’s Party, government and people have mobilized all resources to create a favorable investment climate to absorb projects into the fields of industrial manufacture, trade and services. The town also attached special importance to well realizing policies on social welfare, ensuring order-security, environmental hygiene and urban order at requirements for the local sustainable development. With the integral efforts by the local Party, government and people, the town basically fulfilled its new rural construction program by the end of 2016.
In terms of urban development, the town has focused on urban rejuvenation; perfected an overall plan on socio-economic development to 2025 and orientation to 2030…The town now sets up a detailed plan on administration-cultural and trade-services center, a plan on agriculture and rural development; rechecks and adjusts specialized plans…
Under the Resolution of the 11th local Party congress for the 2015-2020 tenure, the town will further improve the quality of growth; build a synchronous infrastructure system; carry out preferential policies to absorb more investors, promote projects in the investment encouragement list, minimize those with a risk of environmental pollution or using a large number of laborers…; brace up investment in trade-services; promote socialization in building schools, medical facilities…
The town now has 8 administration units, including 5 wards and 3 communes. In 2016, the town’s economy reached a growth of 25.8%. The proportion of industrial manufacture in the local economic structure was 82.31%; services, 17.12% and agricultural production, 0.57%. The average income per capita of locals was VND73.9million.
