In the first half of 2019, Ben Cat town continued gaining stable socio-economic development with order and security maintained, creating the momentum for the town to complete the year’s plan.

The town also absorbed 263 investment projects, bringing the total number of investment projects herein to 3,789 (including 3,137 domestic projects worth more than VND34.59trillion and 652 FDI ones capitalized at US$6.6billion). Besides, the town developed 286 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMSEs), up 11.8% compared to the same period. The figure has lifted the total number of SMSEs herein up 1,486. The town’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services was more than US$13.76trillion, up 30% against the same period.
Also during the period, the town’s agricultural production value was more than VND252billion, up 1% against the corresponding period last year. The town saw stability in animal husbandry. The town is now home to 2 pig-breeding facilities and 7 chicken-breeding facilities under the closed formula. The town is also boosting hi-tech agricultural models.
In addition, the town focused on public investment, tightened control over investment and construction to be able to quickly and effectively carry out projects. The town gave priority to apportion capital for key works in order to complete and put them into operation, aiming to improve the effectiveness of capital use.
The town also attached special importance to rechecking and adjusting problems in planning for land use, new-style rural construction…; basically completed the issuance of the list of eligible streets for land separation, ensuring people’s demand for land use in line with the local orientation for development…
Social safety-order ensured
Over the past 6 months, the situation of order and security at town-based industrial parks continued being ensured. The town well realized traffic order and safety. But, there were also 49 fire and explosive cases reported in the town, up 25 against the same period last year, due to production facilities’ carelessness in using heat and power resources. The town’s functional agencies also asked for these facilities to soon redress shortcomings on fire fighting and prevention safety while organizing training courses on fire fighting and prevention for 27 facilities.
According to the town’s People’s Committee, along with results done, the town has faced obstacles on capital disbursement for public investment, illegal construction, settlement for illegal residential areas, coordination between functional agencies… for change.
To improve the above-mentioned issues, the town will continue rechecking and adjusting the planning for land use, construction and sectors in line with the local real situation and requirements for development. The town will also adjust a list of key works for flexible, synchronous and effective implementation under the plan.
Such these apart, the town will strengthen disbursement for works with volume complemented; focus on taking solutions to handle illegal residential areas; well realize the local urban and construction order.
It is known that the town is fully covered by a network on passenger transport with 270 means of transport at people’s demand for traveling. In the first half of the year, town-based transport units transported 24,985 tons of commodities and 223,657 passengers with total revenue of nearly VND1billion. The town now is home to a Tokyu bus route from provincial Integrated Administration Center to the center of the town and vice versa.
