A strong transfer
As a locality strongly developing in industry, Binh Duong’s agricultural sector has still held an important role with stable production value at 4% per year. Until now, the average production value on one ha of agricultural land has won VND86.85mil. The production land areas with poor efficiency have been changed into industrial, service and urban production land.
As of the end of 2012, the agricultural land area accounted for 76.94% of the total natural land area. Binh Duong has formed up a hi-tech agricultural production area with the total area of 991.4ha, being divided into 4 areas, under operation. The hi-tech agricultural area has the total value of about VND366bil and has offered products for the market.
The local structure of agricultural economy has showed high value and efficiency. The perennial tree area and animal husbandry sector have been considered as an advantage for local agricultural sector. The total area of perennial tree has reached more than 138,000ha, equaling 100.21% compared with the same period last year. Of this, the rubber tree area is at 131,216ha, a 0.71% increase, cashew area at 2,350.2ha, declining 21.25%, fruit tree area at 4,655.6ha, up 0.29% and many more. Meanwhile, as for the animal husbandry, the province now has nearly 5,000 buffaloes, about 24,000 cows, more than 400,000 pigs and nearly 4 million poultries.
Agricultural sector paid much attention
Binh Duong’s rural industry sector is under a strong development. Since 2008, as many as 9,909ha of agricultural land has been changed into accommodation land. At present, the entire province has about 2,638 businesses investing in rural area with the total capital of over VND19,510bil. These businesses’ gathering has gradually formed up industrial parks and compounds in rural area including VSIP II, Bau Bang, My Phuoc 2,3, Dat Cuoc, Nam Tan Uyen, Viet Huong II and so on.
Meanwhile, the entire province now has 961 farms with the total area of production land of 10,246ha. In addition, the entire province now has 16 agricultural cooperatives and 1,352 agricultural teams.
Nguyen Chau Long, chairman of Tam Lap commune People’s Committee said that thanks to right orientation, local models of farmstead economy have been under stable development. Additionally, some areas of service, processing industry have been formed up in the locality. The parallel development between agriculture and other sectors has contributed to change significantly Tam Lap rural area’s image, accelerating rapidly the process of new rural building.
In order to meet the change, rural workforce has been focused to satisfy the rising requirements. The work on training and tech-scientific transfer is an effective measure to support for improving farmers’ production skill.
Over the past time, vocational training for rural laborers has been expanded and diversified. The province is home to 46 vocational training facilities, 6 of which are for rural laborers. In this year, as many as 2,868 learners have enjoyed various vocational training classes on rubber tree planting and care, ornamental tree cultivation, veterinary and animal husbandry.
Pham Van Bong, vice director of the local department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the coming time the province will continue to spur urban agricultural development in the provincial Southern area in a bid to create green and ecological areas.
In the meantime, the provincial Northern region will focus on planning and developing animal husbandry as well as applying hi-technology in attachment to processing industry, creating high quality products and protecting environment.
Besides, the locality will urge businesses to invest in advanced models, applying into hi-tech into farms, especially, hi-tech agricultural areas.
