Under the framework of their working visit to Laos’Champasac province, leaders from Binh Duong province reviewed the project on planting 10,000 hectares of rubber trees between the two localities. The two sides also continued signing new agreements to strengthen ties and expand investment cooperation.
Binh Duong and Champasac has achieved considerable results in
terms of perennial tree growing project, cultural-sports field, Party building,
national defence and security after six year-cooperation.

Particularly, the Dau Tieng Viet Laos Rubber Joint Stock Company has so far planted more than 5,000 hectares of rubber trees. Of the total figure, 300 hectares is under exploitation and around 1,000 hectares are preparing for exploitation. Provincial Party Committee Permanent Deputy Secretary, People’s Council Chairman Vu Minh Sang said that the two sides has made the exchange of high-ranking delegations, enhanced bilateral cooperation in terms of health and education…
Also according to Mr.Sang, this visit aimed to further discuss measures to strengthen cooperation between the two localities. Currently, Champasac possesses a great potential for socio-economic development.
Mr.Sang added that Champasac province has made efforts in promoting the project of planting 10,000 hectares of rubber trees from the Dau Tieng Viet Laos Rubber Joint Stock Company. The company is also forwarding many other investment projects in Champasac, including those of building rubber latex processing factories, residential estates and medical facilities. Currently, the company generates jobs for thousands of laborers in Champasac. It will further engage in activities of social welfare in Champasac.
Realizing that there is a great potential in Champasac, Binh Duong will initially help Champasac build up investment items, organize trade promotion programs…In the 2011 and 2012 period, Champasac has gained an economic growth of 10.6%, up 5% compared to the 2010-2011 period. The average income per capita of people herein is now 11.46 million kip per capita per year, equivalent to US$ 1,428 per capita per year.
Also during the period, Champasac has absorbed 62 domestic investment projects capitalized at 2,602 billion kip, accounting for 32.7% of the province’s total GDP and increasing by 13% of the projection. There have also been 21 FDI projects capitalized at 1,192 mln kip (equivalent to US$149 mln), including 4 from Vietnam with total investment capital of 11.84 million kip or 19% of total.
